Strain and strain rate echocardiography

Current Opinion in Cardiology, 2002
Strain and strain rate echocardiography is an emerging technique for assessing myocardial systolic and diastolic function. It is envisioned that this modality could change the quantitative assessment of regional wall motion and improve the accuracy and reproducibility of test readings. Myocardial strain and strain rate can detect inducible ischemia and

Strain Glass State, Strain Glass Transition, and Controlled Strain Release

Annual Review of Materials Research, 2022
Strain glass is a new strain state discovered recently in ferroelastic systems that is characterized by nanoscale martensitic domains formed through a freezing transition. These nanodomains typically have mottled or tweed morphology depending on the elastic anisotropy of the system.

On strain and straining

Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, 1988
The author is pointing out some local properties of finite and infinitesimal deformation of a continuum. We mention here some of these properties. Let x be the place of the particle X in deformation \(x=x(X)\). It is shown that at every place x there exists at least a plane such that there is no shearing for all material elements instantaneously in ...

Straining the Strain Diagnosis

2020
Abstract In this case, a woman in her late 30s was brought to the emergency department (ED) following a motor vehicle collision. She was a passenger in a car that was T-boned on the passenger side. Her principal complaint was neck pain. After plain radiographs showed no bony injury, she was discharged with cervical strain.

Asymmetric strain in nanoscale patterned strained-Si/strained-Ge/strained-Si heterostructures on insulator

Applied Physics Letters, 2007
The engineering of asymmetric strain is demonstrated in nanoscale patterned strained-Si/strained-Ge/strained-Si heterostructure on insulator with body thickness of 15nm. Starting material has layers with symmetric in-plane strain, including biaxial strained Si (∼1.8%, tension) and biaxial strained Ge (∼1.8%, compression).

Strain and Strain Rate Imaging in Cardiomyopathy

Echocardiography, 2009
The most common indication for an echocardiogram is for the assessment of left ventricular (LV) function and, in the evaluation of cardiomyopathy (CM), this becomes even more important. However, conventional echocardiographic measures of ventricular function are insensitive at detecting subtle perturbations in contractility.

Muscle strain injuries

Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport, 1996
One of the most common injuries seen in the office of the practicing physician is the muscle strain. Until recently, little data were available on the basic science and clinical application of this basic science for the treatment and prevention of muscle strains. Studies in the last 10 years represent action taken on the direction of investigation into

Plane-Strain Bending With Isotropic Strain Hardening at Large Strains

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2010
Finite deformation elastic-plastic analysis of plane-strain pure bending of a strain hardening sheet is presented. The general closed-form solution is proposed for an arbitrary isotropic hardening law assuming that the material is incompressible. Explicit relations are given for most popular conventional laws.
