Simulation of surface displacement and strain field of the 2011 Japan Mw9.0 earthquake

open access: yesGeodesy and Geodynamics, 2011
Based on dislocation theory of Okada, we adopted a finite-element fault model inverted by Gavin Hayes from seismic data for the 2011 Japan Mw9.0 earthquake, and obtained the corresponding surface displacement and strain fields.

Thermal control of spacecraft star sensor attitude control system based on the solution of a coupled thermoelasticity problem

open access: yesВестник Самарского университета: Аэрокосмическая техника, технологии и машиностроение, 2016
The paper is devoted to the study of thermal control of the platform of star sensors designed for spacecraft attitude control under operating conditions. An optimal platform design with an arrangement of sensing elements is presented.

Large electric-field induced strain in BiFeO3 ceramics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Large bipolar strain of up to 0.36% (peak-to-peak value) was measured in BiFeO3 ceramics at low frequency (0.1 Hz) and large amplitude (140 kV/cm) of the driving field.

Desiccation cracking bebavior of soils based on digital image correlation technique

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2019
Under dry condition, the soil is prone to evaporation, leading to desiccation cracking. It is of great significance to deeply study the desiccation cracking process of soils to accurately grasp the engineering response characteristics of soils in arid ...

Hydride corrosion kinetics on metallic surface: a multiphase-field modeling

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2021
The hydride growth on metallic surface can cause material failure, which is a significant form of pitting corrosion. A new multiphase-field model is constructed to study the hydride corrosion kinetics, in which three order parameters are introduced to ...

Analysis of strain fields in silicon nanocrystals [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2009
Strain has a crucial effect on the optical and electronic properties of nanostructures. We calculate the atomistic strain distribution in silicon nanocrystals up to a diameter of 3.2 nm embedded in an amorphous silicon dioxide matrix. A seemingly conflicting picture arises when the strain field is expressed in terms of bond lengths versus volumetric ...
