Dynamic displacement monitoring of flexural structures with distributed long-gage macro-strain sensors

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
A new method is proposed to monitor dynamic displacement for flexural structures especially. In this method, the distributed macro-strain is first obtained using long-gage fiber Bragg grating sensors.

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

Bragg-Grating-Based Photonic Strain and Temperature Sensor Foils Realized Using Imprinting and Operating at Very Near Infrared Wavelengths

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Thin and flexible sensor foils are very suitable for unobtrusive integration with mechanical structures and allow monitoring for example strain and temperature while minimally interfering with the operation of those structures.

Titanium Suboxides Responsible for Electronic Anomaly Near Room Temperature in the Ti3C2Tx MXene

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Our multi‐technique study reveals that the near‐room‐temperature anomaly in Ti3C2Tx MXene is linked to titanium suboxide nanodomains, including Ti3O5, embedded within the MXene host. Their temperature‐driven transformation provides an alternative explanation to solvent‐ and swelling‐based models and offers new insight into the thermally activated ...

Early Warning Model of Pipeline Stress State Based on Axial Stress Monitoring Data

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2018
To manage the stress state of the pipeline in real time and take timely targeted measures, stress monitoring measures are usually taken for pipelines that are prone to displacement deformation.

Manufacturing and reliability of a fiber Bragg grating strain sensor designed for uniaxial compression test of rocks

open access: yesDyna, 2019
In this work we present an optical Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) strain sensor appropriate for uniaxial compression test of rocks. The rocks are a complex aggregate of materials and may exhibit in some cases mineral grains of size bigger than the ...

Historical Foundation and Practical Guideline for Ferroelectric Switching Kinetic Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The P and U pulses in the conventional PUND measurements are not identical because of the interplay between switching current and the measurement circuit components. This circuit effect can lead to a shift in polarization transients and misinterpreted physics in the switching kinetics.

Optimized optical setup for DIC in rock mechanics

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
In order to investigate the micromechanical mechanisms of argillaceous rocks under combined mechanical load and varying moisture, and observe very low strain rates of about 10-10s-1, i.e. about 10-4 per week, a specific optical setup for Digital Image
