Direct measurement of strain-dependent solid surface stress [PDF]
Solid surface stress is a fundamental property of solid interfaces. Here authors measure the solid surface stress of a gel, and show its dependence on surface strain through a surface modulus.

Estimating Measurement Uncertainty on Stress-Strain Curves from SHPB [PDF]
Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar tests are commonly used to determine material stress-strain relationship at high deformation rates. Obtaining this relationship is dependant both on certain assumptions and substantial post-processing of the data recorded during the test. Measurement uncertainty rarely appears on the resulting curves.

Assessment of strain measurement techniques to characterise mechanical properties of structural steel [PDF]
Strain measurement is important in mechanical testing. A wide variety of techniques exists for measuring strain in the tensile test; namely the strain gauge, extensometer, stress and strain determined by machine crosshead motion, Geometric Moire ...

Stress-strain relationship of PDMS micropillar for force measurement application [PDF]
There is an increasing interest to use polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) based materials as bio-transducers for force measurements in the order of micro to nano Newton.

Research into using a fiber Bragg grating sensor group for three-dimensional in situ stress measurement [PDF]
The observation and estimation of the deep crustal stress state is a key and difficult problem for in situ stress measurement. Using a borehole wall strain gauge based on the overcoring stress-relieving method is one of the main methods of in situ stress

Feasibility on accurate measurement of non-uniform strain field through contact methods
When straight material filaments do not remain straight after deformation, the strain varies spatially. These spatially varying strain fields arise because of (1) non-uniform distribution of boundary traction, (2) presence of residual stress in the ...

Capability of Triaxial Apparatus with Respect to Evaluation of Nonlinearity of Soil Stiffness [PDF]
Reliable evaluation of stress-strain characteristics can be done only in the laboratory where boundary conditions with respect to stress and strain can be controlled. The most popular laboratory equipment is a triaxial apparatus.

This paper shows the development and analysis method of a single element strain gage (K value gage) used to analyze the stress intensity factor of mode I (opening type) cracks. The K-value gage reported in the previous report collected the strain εθ with
