Deformation Behaviors in Single BCC‐Phase Refractory Multi‐Principal Element Alloys under Dynamic Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science
The mechanical behavior and microstructural evolution of a BCC‐phase NbTaTiV refractory multi‐principal element alloy (RMPEA) is studied over a wide range of strain rates (10−3 to 103 s−1) and temperatures (room temperature to 850 °C).

Kinematic and isotropic strain hardening in copper with highly aligned nanoscale twins

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters, 2018
The kinematic and isotropic strain hardening was investigated in columnar-grained copper with preferentially oriented nanoscale twins deformed at two different strain rates of 5 × 10−5 and 5 × 10−3 s−1.

Determination of plastic properties using instrumented indentation test with hybrid particle swarm optimization

open access: yesUbiquity Proceedings, 2018
Instrumented indentation test is a promising non-destructive method to determine mechanical properties. This paper proposes a new approach to determine the plastic properties of bulk metal materials (including yield stress, strain-hardening exponent (n ...

Strain hardening in Fe-16Mn-10Al-0.86C-5Ni high specific strength steel

open access: yes, 2016
We report a detailed study of the strain hardening behavior of a Fe-16Mn-10Al-0.86C-5Ni (weight percent) high specific strength (i.e. yield strength-to-mass density ratio) steel (HSSS) during uniaxial tensile deformation.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Strain rate sensitivity and strain hardening response of DP1000 dual phase steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this study, strain hardening and strain rate sensitivity behavior of commercial DP1000 dual phase steel have been examined in detail at temperatures of 25 °C, 100 °C, 200 °C and 300 °C, at strain rates of 0.0016 s -1 and 0.16 s -1 . As the strain rate

Loss of AMBRA1 activates MAPK and angiogenesis signaling pathways in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Loss of AMBRA1 in melanoma cells activates multiple oncogenic pathways associated with tumor progression. Transcriptomic and protein network analyses revealed that AMBRA1 depletion enhances MAPK/ERK signaling, angiogenesis, TGF‐β/EMT signaling, and Wnt/axon guidance pathways.

Anisotropic creep model for soft soils

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper a new anisotropic model for time-dependent behaviour of soft soils is presented. The formulation is based on a previously developed isotropic creep model, assuming rotated Modified Cam Clay ellipses as contours of volumetric creep strain ...

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral

Delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins in mice using cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cutaneous suction‐mediated transfection in mice for delivery of DNA‐encoded vaccines and proteins. A critical limitation of DNA vaccines and other therapeutics is transfection in vivo to produce the encoded antigens or therapeutic proteins. Cutaneous suction‐based methods have demonstrated effectiveness in many animal models and have been successfully ...
