Degree of magnetic anisotropy as a strain-intensity gauge in a saturated finite-strain zone
Journal of the Geological Society, 2009Abstract: Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) analyses were carried out on mylonitic quartzites from the footwall of the Main Central Thrust Zone, Garhwal Higher Himalaya, India. A systematic increase in degree of magnetic anisotropy ( P ′) with distance from the Main Central Thrust is documented ...

Active structural intensity control using strain sensing
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2000An investigation of structural intensity control using strain sensing is presented in this paper. As opposed to previous work, the approach taken here does not assume waves propagating predominantly in one direction. Moreover, the instantaneous intensity is completely taken into account in the control algorithm, i.e., all the terms are considered in ...

Dependence of dynamic yield point of strain rate intensity
Strength of Materials, 1991A modified method is described for determining dynamic yield strength under conditions of a nonuniaxial stressed state with high strain rates suggested by Taylor which is based on measuring the distribution of residual strains in a cylinder after impact of it with a rigid barrier.

An Effect of Plastic Anisotropy on the Strain Rate Intensity Factor
ASME 2010 10th Biennial Conference on Engineering Systems Design and Analysis, Volume 2, 2010The strain rate intensity factor in the theory of rigid perfectly plastic isotropic materials is the coefficient of the principal singular term in a series expansion of the equivalent strain rate in the vicinity of maximum friction surfaces. This coefficient can be used to predict the evolution of material properties in a narrow layer in the vicinity ...

The strain dependence of the Brillouin gain-loss spectrum for PANDA, bow-tie, and tiger polarization-maintaining fibers has been studied in the range 0 to 50 degrees C. We found a linear relationship between the strain and the Brillouin frequency, intensity, and bandwidth for PANDA and bow-tie fibers.

The Strain Rate Intensity Factor and its Applications: A Review
Materials Science Forum, 2009The present paper concerns with the concept of the strain rate intensity factor in rigid plastic solids. The strain rate intensity factor is the coefficient of the principal singular term in the expansion of the equivalent strain rate in a series in the vicinity of maximum friction surfaces.

Plane strain stress intensity factors for branched cracks
International Journal of Fracture, 1977A method of calculating stress intensity factors for branched and bent cracks embedded in an infinite body has been developed. The branches are always assumed to be sharp cracks and are modelled by dislocation distributions. The original crack may be either sharp or of elliptical cross-section with finite root radius.
