Strain Measurements and Monitoring of Constructions

open access: yesElektronika ir Elektrotechnika, 2008
Results of analysis of recent accidents in public buildings are presented. It is shown that construction state identification systems are integral part of public and local warning and security systems. This system is highly flexible and can cover system of a separate structure, and also can be expanded to group of structures (houses, bridges, etc.) or ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Evaluating the Performance of Functionalized Carbon Structures with Integrated Optical Fiber Sensors under Practical Conditions

open access: yesSensors, 2018
An Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometry (OFDR) based fiber optic sensor scheme “embedded„ in concrete for the purpose of structural health monitoring (SHM) of carbon concrete composites (C3) is presented. The design, while strengthening the

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Application of Distributed Fibre Optical Sensing in Reinforced Concrete Elements Subjected to Monotonic and Cyclic Loading

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Distributed fibre optical sensing (DFOS) is increasingly used in civil engineering research. For reinforced concrete structures, almost continuous information concerning the deformations of embedded reinforcing bars can be obtained.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Strain measurements using Fiber Bragg Grating sensors in Structural Health Monitoring [PDF]

open access: yesINCAS Bulletin, 2017
The paper presents some results obtained within a project of the “NUCLEU” Program financed by the Ministry of Research and Innovation-ANCS. The project supposes, among others, the design and the realization of a demonstrator for strain and stress ...
