Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Cytoplasmic strains and strain rates in motile polymorphonuclear leukocytes

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 1990
A new method is presented to measure local cytoplasmic deformation and rate of deformation in motile active neutrophils. The deformation is expressed in terms of biomechanical strains and strain rates. For this purpose small phagocytosed latex microspheres were used as intracellular markers. Planar Lagrangian and Eulerian strains and the rate of strain

Emerging insights into CC and CXC chemokines and their receptors in Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dual roles of CC and CXC chemokines in distinguishing active, latent, and subclinical tuberculosis were reviewed, along with an evaluation of their potential as diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets to advance precision medicine in tuberculosis management. The graphical abstract was generated with AI assistance (Gemini 3.0).

Molecular Dynamics Study Of The Mechanical Behavior Of Nickel Nanowire: Strain Rate Effects

open access: yes, 2008
We present the analysis of uniaxial deformation of nickel nanowires using molecular dynamics simulations, and address the strain rate effects on mechanical responses and deformation behavior. The applied strain rate is ranging from 1 x 10(8) s(-1) to 1.4

Mechanical Behavior of DP980 High Strength Steel Under Dynamic Tensile Tests

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng, 2017
The mechanical behavior and fracture modes of DP980 high strength steels were studied by comparing the results of dynamic tensile tests at strain rates from 10-3s-1 to 103s-1. The results show that the strength of DP980 steel remains almost unchanged and

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Influences of strain rate and temperature variation on material intrinsic length of plasticity strain gradient theory

open access: yes, 2000
Cowper-Symonds and Johnson-Cook dynamic constitutive relations are used to study the influence of both strain rate effect and temperature variation on the material intrinsic length scale in strain gradient plasticity.

Myocardial Strain for the Differentiation of Myocardial Involvement in the Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19—A Multiparametric Cardiac MRI Study

open access: yesTomography
Myocardial involvement was shown to be associated with an unfavorable prognosis in patients with COVID-19, which could lead to fatal outcomes as in myocardial injury-induced arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.

Strain Behavior of Nickel Alloy 200 during Multiaxial Forging through Finite Element Modeling

open access: yesMetals, 2019
Multiaxial forging (MAF) is one of the appealing methods of severe plastic deformation (SPD) techniques to fabricate ultrafine-grained (UFG) materials.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.
