Rate of Strain Effect in Metal Cutting
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1963An analysis of the cutting process is presented which in conjunction with experimental cutting data enables the initial shear yield stress and the mean slope of the corresponding plastic stress-strain curve to be calculated for different rates of strain.

Strain-rate effects on concrete behavior
International Journal of Impact Engineering, 2011Abstract In this paper, a previously developed meso-scale model for concrete, called the Confinement Shear Lattice (CSL) model, is extended in order to include the effect of loading rate on concrete strength and fracturing behavior. The rate dependence of concrete behavior is assumed to be caused by two different physical mechanisms.

Interpretation of Strain Rate Effect of Metals
2013Mesoscopic mechanism of strain rate effect of metals has been discussed based on dislocation theory. Strain rate effect and dislocation motion is bridged by using the decomposition of strain rate, Orowan’s relationship and the stress dependence of dislocation velocity.

Effect of cane use on tibial strain and strain rates.
American journal of physical medicine & rehabilitation, 1998The effect of cane ambulation on hip biomechanics has been well studied, but its effect on tibial strains and strain rates is not known. To test the hypothesis that cane use may lower tibial strain and strain rates during walking, percutaneous axial extensometers were mounted on the right medial cortex of the midtibial diaphysis in seven male ...

Strain rate effects in microparticle impact
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1977Very short impact durations and correspondingly high strain rates are shown to be associated with the normal impact of small spheres on to metal targets. This may explain the size effects observed in microparticle impact and in the erosion of metals by solid particles.

Damping and strain rate effect of geopolymer
2017Geopolymers are produced by alkali activation of aluminosilicate raw materials (fly ash or metakaolin), which are transformed into reaction products by polymerisation in a high pH environment and hydrothermal conditions at relatively low temperatures (up to 120°C).
