Elastocaloric effect and superelastic stability in Ni-Mn-In-Co polycrystalline Heusler alloys: hysteresis and strain-rate effects [PDF]
Controlling material hysteresis and working frequency variability are fundamentally important for refrigeration cycle efficiency and power density in solid-state cooling systems. For elastocaloric cooling, understanding the relationship between the width

Strain rate effect on the mechanical behavior of polyamide composites under compression loading
This paper presents an experimental study on the effect of strain rate on the compressive behavior of polyamide composites. Contrary to thermoset woven reinforced composites, thermoplastic woven reinforced composites have always received less interest ...

Effects of the Strain Rate Sensitivity and Strain Hardening on the Saturated Impulse of Plates
This paper studies the stiffening effects of the material strain rate sensitivity and strain hardening on the saturated impulse of elastic, perfectly plastic plates.

Small Strain Behavior of Geomaterials: Modelling of Strain Rate Effects
ABSTRACT Experimental results for sand, gravel, sedimentary soft rock and stiff clay are presented which show that even at small strain levels (less than about 0.001%), these geomaterials exhibit nearly linear elastic behavior, but creep deformation and stress relaxation are not negligible.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Strain Rate Effect on Artificially Cemented Clay with Fully Developed and Developing Structure
The rapid expansion of land reclamation necessitates a fundamental understanding of the strain rate effects on structured clays. While the rate effect has been widely studied in various soils, the interplay between bond structure and strain rate ...

Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Heat-Treated Shale under Different Temperatures
As a typical rock, shale’s reservoir depth is about 1500–4000 m, and the temperature of the shale reservoir at this depth is 150 °C. Therefore, in order to study the dynamic strength of shale at this temperature, it is necessary to consider the effects ...

Correlation of microseismic and chemical properties of brittle deformation in Locharbriggs sandstone [PDF]
The time-dependent properties of ceramic materials such as rocks depend both on preexisting cracks and chemical properties acting at their tips. We have examined the direct effect of chemical processes on the growth of a crack population by carrying out ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
