Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
Through testing the mountainous shallow-buried coal seam mining working face strata behaviors in Faer mine field, it got the strata behaviors: it was of large roof pressure, high rate of safety valve opening in hydraulic support, and even some supports crushed or took separation between top beams and tail beams.

Strata movement and surface subsidence prediction model of deep backfilling mining
Energy Sources, Part A: Recovery, Utilization, and Environmental Effects, 2020Surface subsidence prediction is an important approach to evaluate the surface damages caused by backfilling mining activities, and is applied to guide the recovery of coal resources under building...

Effective Filling Rate in Filling Mining’s Influence on Overlying Strata’s Movement
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Similarities and differences of overlying strata movement rule and abutment pressure distribution between filling stope and traditional strope was analysied guided by “practical mine pressure control theory ”. The admissible condition of strata’s depending from bending failure to caving was put forward, and caving zone’s height was analysied on the ...

Study on Strata Movement Control of Twice Strip Mining
Advanced Materials Research, 2014In order to further improve the recovery ratio in strip mining, this paper makes use of the law of insufficiency and sufficiency in strata movement and buildings’ additional stress release features, puts forward twice strip mining technology. The paper introduces the method and feasibility of twice strip mining.

Effect of discontinuities on strata-movement problems in collieries: a review
Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, 1994The influence of discontinuities on coal measures is manifested in the form of roof and side falls, caving of the roof and sometimes in subsidence of the ground surface. This review paper is confined to roof falls due to major geological discontinuities (such as faults, joints, cleats and bedding planes) and to possible ways and means to prevent these ...

The Calculation of Strata Movement
1983The mathematical effort required to calculate movement in strata affected by underlying workings can be kept at a justifiable level only if certain simplifying assumptions are made concerning the structure, the deformation behaviour, and the extent of the rock mass (Fig. 57).

HYBRID DISCRETE ELEMENT CODE FOR SIMULATION OF MINING‐INDUCED STRATA MOVEMENTS
Engineering Computations, 1992To simulate the kinematics associated with mining‐induced subsidence in a blocky rock mass, a hybrid rigid block model was developed by combining a small displacement code with a large displacement code. Gravity was applied to a rigid block mesh using an implicit formulation and the equilibrium displacements are then used as initial conditions for an ...

Mining causes damage not only at the surface but also to mine structures in the interior of the rock mass. In mine roadways and working areas, it is true, this damage is caused principally by rock pressures which belong in the domain of rock mechanics. At the shaft, however, it is caused solely by the strata movements discussed in the last chapter. The

Strata Movement at the Mining Horizon
1983The field of subsidence engineering stretches from the firm rock at the mining horizon to the surface layer of loose ground on which buildings stand and farming is conducted. The cavity artificially created underground by the extraction of mineral removes the natural support from the overlying strata.
