Scientia Horticulturae, 1978
Abstract Freshly harvested seeds of peach cultivar ‘Sharbati’ were found to be dormant and did not germinate at all. A specific low-temperature stratification treatment was required to overcome seed dormancy. 10° C stratification was found to be the best for breaking seed dormancy.

Respiratory changes with stratification of pear seeds
Physiologia Plantarum, 1981Experiments on the stratification of seeds of pear (Pyrus communis cv. Bartlett) indicate that there is a progressive increase in respiratory capacity, with about a three‐fold increase developing during a 30‐day stratification period. Evidence is presented suggesting this increase in respiratory capacity occurs in the cytochrome oxidase pathway and not

Methods of Stratification for Loblolly Pine Seeds
Journal of Forestry, 1938Abstract Loblolly pine seeds were stratified in a number of different media at different moisture contents for various periods of time. A detailed study was made of the viability and the promptness of germination of the seeds so stratified, and some interesting and important relationships were determined.

Controlled Stratification of Prunus avium L. Seeds
1997In a Ph.D. thesis at the University of Hannover and the Forest Seed Centre Oerrel, Germany, three stratification methods were compared concerning plant yield/kg seeds and content and consumption of sugars, starch and lipids in seeds of wild cherry at harvest and during stratification.

Differential protein analysis of Heracleum moellendorffii Hance seeds during stratification
Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, 2019Heracleum moellendorffii Hance is a medicinal vegetable species, and the seed dormancy of this species has caused many agricultural problems. One stratification technique involves alternating layers of seeds and substrate to allow post-ripening of dormant seeds under appropriate environmental conditions and to release dormancy. Non-stratified seeds (NS)

Stratification of Seeds of Western and Utah Juniper
Forest Science, 1988Abstract Seeds of western juniper (Juniperus occidentalis subsp. occidentalis Hook.) and Utah juniper [J. osteosperma (Tort.) Little] are highly dormant when freshly harvested. Cool-moist stratification at 5°C for 14 weeks in vermiculite enhanced subsequent emergence of seedlings of both species, but total emergence was still low.

Sweetgum Seed Stratification Requirements Related to Winter Climate at Seed Source
Forest Science, 1968Abstract After 0 to 32 days of stratification, sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua L.) seeds from 3 stands near the mouth of the Mississippi River germinated faster than seeds from 15 stands farther north in Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana.

Stratification of apple seeds in the context of ROS metabolism
Journal of Plant PhysiologyApple (Malus domestica Borkh.) seeds exhibit deep embryonic dormancy. Uniform germination of isolated apple embryos is observed after 40-day-long cold stratification of the seeds. Stratification treatment modifies the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are regarded as key regulators of seed dormancy.
