Postharvest Seed Maturation of American Ginseng: Stratification Temperatures and Delay of Stratification

open access: yesHortScience, 1988
Abstract Seeds of freshly harvested American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius L.) were stratified at 5°, 10°, 15°, 20°, or 25°C for 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, or 16 weeks. Regardless of the duration of stratification, respiration was usually lowest at 5° and highest at 20°.

Clipping and Gibberellin Treatments Promote Germination in Dormant Grape Seeds

open access: yesHortTechnology, 2023
‘Crimson Cabernet’ grape (Vitis vinifera) seeds showed physiological dormancy and germinated at ∼60% after 60 days of chilling stratification. Fresh seeds harvested after physiological maturity and sown without drying failed to germinate after 30 days ...

Controlled-temperature, Aboveground Stratification of North American Ginseng Seed [PDF]

open access: yesHortTechnology, 2001
Freshly harvested, immature (green) seeds of north american ginseng ( Panax quinquefolius L.) were stratified for 12 months either traditionally in buried wooden boxes outdoors, or in plastic pails in a controlled environment room [3 ± 0.2 °C (37.4 ± 0.11 °F)], 85% ± 5% relative humidity) for

Effect of provenance and chemical treatments on the germination characteristics in immature seed of linden [PDF]

open access: yesمجله جنگل ایران, 2018
One of the problems of propagation of lindens (Tilia spp.) is low seed germination. In this research, different treatments for stimulating the germination in immature seeds of Tilia rubra subsp. caucasica form angulata collected from middle altitude (500

The Effect of Different Stratification Media and Temperature Applications on Seed Germination and Seedling Growing in Rosehip (Rosa canina L.)

open access: yesYüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Tarim Bilimleri Dergisi, 2021
In this study, the effects of different stratification media (sand, peat, vermiculite and vermicompost) and different temperature degrees (warm + cold) on the germination rate and seedling growth of rosehip seeds were investigated. This study was carried

Overexpression of Nictaba-like lectin genes from glycine max confers tolerance towards Pseudomonas syringae infection, aphid infestation and salt stress in transgenic Arabidopsis plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Plants have evolved a sophisticated immune system that allows them to recognize invading pathogens by specialized receptors. Carbohydrate-binding proteins or lectins are part of this immune system and especially the lectins that reside in the ...

Influence of Stratification and Seed Age on Germination of Penstemon Seeds

open access: yesHortScience, 1998
Seeds of eight Penstemon selections, stratified for 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, or 0 weeks in 1989 and 1990, displayed significant germination differences between species, between weeks of stratification, and between years. Germination varied from zero with P. digitalis in both 1989 and 1990 with no stratification, to 68.0% and 72.8% with P.
