Stratified sampling of spherical triangles
Proceedings of the 22nd annual conference on Computer graphics and interactive techniques - SIGGRAPH '95, 1995 We present an algorithm for generating uniformly distributed random samples from arbitrary spherical triangles. The algorithm is based on a transformation of the unit square and easily accommodates stratified sampling, an effective means of reducing variance. This paper deals with the problem of estimation of finite population total under nested stratified sampling plan. Allocation of sample sizes to different primary and secondary strata are obtained for fixed cost and fixed precision. The proposed plan under different types of allocation is compared with usual stratification.
