Lower miocene stratigraphy of the Eastern Paratethys: Problems and state of the art [PDF]

open access: yesGeološki Anali Balkanskoga Poluostrva
The Lower Miocene regional stages of the Eastern Paratethys, the Caucasian, Sakaraulian, and Kozakhurian, have been recognized in different structural facies zones of the basin and have no reliable universal stratigraphic basis for defining their ...

Search for impact ejecta at the Paleocene–Eocene boundary

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Almost 10 years have passed since microtektites and microkrystites were reported for the Paleocene–Eocene (P–E) boundary in drill cores and outcrop in New Jersey and in ODP Hole 1051B in the western North Atlantic. The glassy spherules were interpreted to reflect an impact trigger for the Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM).

THE PROTECTION OF JURASSIC SITES AND FOSSILS: CHALLENGES FOR GLOBAL JURASSIC SCIENCE (INCLUDING A PROPOSED STATEMENT ON THE CONSERVATION OF PALAEONTOLOGICAL HERITAGE AND STRATOTYPES)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2004
Effective geoconservation systems are crucial to the activities of subcommissions of the International Subcommission on Stratigraphy, such as the Jurassic Subcommission (ISJS).

EVOLUTION OF THE PSEUDOSTAFFELLIDAE IN THE BASHKIRIAN(MIDDLE CARBONIFEROUS)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2003
The origin and evolution of the family Pseudostaffellidae is discussed, based on the study of foraminifers from the stratotype and reference sections of the Bashkirian stage of the Southern Urals.

Quantification of the Eocene–Oligocene transition in the Zagros Foreland Basin: Palaeogeographic control on sequence architecture and tectonic signal preservation

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 3, June 2026.
New bio‐sequence framework for the Eocene–Oligocene transition in Zagros. Geochemical data validate basin depth control on SB1 vs. SB2 boundaries. SEM‐EDS analyses confirm subaerial exposure versus continuous deposition. Sensitivity analysis quantifies sub‐10% uncertainty in stratigraphic interpretations. Resolves the Pyrenean orogeny's variable impact

Loess Studies in Aotearoa New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 2, June 2026.
Loess in Aotearoa New Zealand (ANZ) has been studied since its first documented recognition (on Banks Peninsula) in 1878 by Julius von Haast. A decade later, John Hardcastle revealed that southern ANZ loess was both glacial in origin and contained signals of past climates.
