Field Straw Management – A Techno Economic Perspectives

open access: yesJournal of the Institute of Engineering, 1970
The study was conducted in the combine harvested paddy (variety-Kranti) and wheat (HI-8498) field. The crop gatherer cum baler was used for collection and baling of crop residues left in the field. Collection and gathering losses were determined for given condition and quantity of straw in the field.

The Plant‐to‐Plant Circular Strategy: Coupling Photodegradation and Phytoremediation With Plant‐Based Nanomaterials for Plastic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐based nanomaterials derived from alfalfa serve as dual‐function catalysts, coupling photodegradation and phytoremediation to degrade polyethylene under UV‐A light and in soil. The nanomaterials work synergistically with alfalfa and soil microbes, achieving efficient plastic breakdown without trophic transfer.

Straw Return and Tillage Regulate Soil N Pool via Modifying Soil Conditions and Bacterial Communities in Coastal Saline–Alkaline Land

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Straw return and tillage practices can alter the soil properties and regulate the bacteria communities, which mediate nitrogen (N) transformation and accumulation. This study aims to elucidate the mechanisms of microbially driven N retention, providing a

Comparison of humus balance methods in relation with yields of monoculture spring barley

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2004
Long term stationary field experiments with continuous spring barley were conducted in the maize-growing region on heavy gleic fluvisol from 1974 to 2002. Two variants of straw management (straw harvested and incorporated into soil), two variants of soil

Effects of fermentable starch and straw-enriched housing on energy partitioning of growing pigs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Both dietary fermentable carbohydrates and the availability of straw bedding potentially affect activity patterns and energy utilisation in pigs. The present study aimed to investigate the combined effects of straw bedding and fermentable carbohydrates ...
