Co-ensiling of straw with sugar beet leaves increases the methane yield from straw
Bioresource Technology, 2017This study examined the effect of co-ensiling of wheat straw and sugar beet leaves on the biochemical methane potential (BMP) by both lab-scale and pilot-scale co-ensiling. BMP was increased by co-ensiling, and the increase ranged from 19 to 34% after 9months of co-ensiling in lab-scale and from 18 to 32% after 6months of co-ensiling in pilot-scale. No

Pyrolysis of Oat Straw and the Comparison of the Product Yield to Wheat and Flax Straw Pyrolysis
Energy & Fuels, 2011In this work, the results of experimental studies on the pyrolysis of oat straw in a fixed-bed reactor at different temperatures are described. The pyrolysis products are analyzed, and the effect of the temperature on the product yield is also discussed.

AbstractIn a laboratory experiment, incorporation of paddy straw in soil immobilized native as well as added fertilizer N and about half of the immobilized N was mineralized after 90 days of straw incorporation. Straw and N application alone or in combination increased biomass carbon, phosphatase and respiratory activities of the soil.

Hard Red Spring Wheat Straw Yields in Relation to Grain Yields
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1978Abstract Residue management planning programmers utilize a constant straw/grain ratio to predict wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) straw yields. The efficacy of this approach was evaluated for conventional height and semidwarf hard red spring wheat cultivars.

Improving probiotic spore yield using rice straw hydrolysate
Letters in Applied Microbiology, 2020Spore-forming Bacillus sp. has been extensively studied for their probiotic properties. In this study, an acid-treated rice straw hydrolysate was used as carbon source to produce the spores of Bacillus coagulans. The results showed that this hydrolysate significantly improved the spore yield compared with other carbon sources such as glucose.

A field experiment was conducted over four seasons on a clay loam (24% clay in topsoil) in Scotland. Straw incorporation with conventional ploughing, shallow ploughing, rotary and tine cultivation was investigated for continuous winter barley. Residue treatments were either chopped straw plus stubble or stubble only.

Abstract Little is known about on-farm performance of promising accessions of common vetch ( Vicia sativa L.), narbon vetch ( Vicia narbonensis L.) and grasspea ( Lathyrus sativus L.) that are adapted to the non-tropical dry areas of Central and West Asia, and North Africa, where mean annual rainfall is 200–350 mm.

Pretreatment of Paddy Straw to Improve Biogas Yield
2016Biofuels have been considered as an alternative energy source to cope up the future energy demand. There are various biomass-based energy sources including biogas, bioethanol, biobutanol, etc. Biogas is one of the biofuels which can be produced from the lignocellulosic biomass.

Relationship between the yield of seed and straw in lentil
Field Crops Research, 1983Abstract The relationship between lentil seed and straw yield was studied firstly in a world germplasm collection of 3586 accessions grown at one location, and secondly amongst 24 cultivars grown in three rainfed sites. The mean yields of seed and straw of the germplasm were 1287 and 2932 kg/ha, respectively.
