Long-Term Increases in Continuous Cotton Yield and Soil Fertility following the Application of Cotton Straw and Organic Manure

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Long-term continuous cotton cropping results in a significant decrease in soil quality and soil organic carbon, threatening cotton yield. The application of organic amendments is considered an effective management practice for the sustainability of soil ...

Yield stress of concentrated wheat straw suspensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The yield stress of concentrated wheat straw suspensions was measured by a vane with a Bohlin rheometer. Wheat straw fibers were made by grinding (wet and dry) wheat straw and separated into four sizes by sieving (8, 12, 20, and 40 mesh). The yield stress was found to increase with concentration as well as with the size of the wheat straw fibers.

IMPACT OF COMPOSTED RICE STRAW AND UREA FERTILIZER ON YIELD, YIELD ATTRIBUTES AND N UPTAKE OF SAKHA 106 RICE CULTIVAR IN FLOODED RICE SOIL [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Soil Sciences and Agricultural Engineering, 2013
Nitrogen requirements of rice crop are met from both soil and fertilizers. Because of acute N deficiency in most rice soils, fertilizer N must be applied to meet the crop demand.

Fall Straw Incorporation with Plastic Film Cover Increases Corn Yield and Water Use Efficiency under a Semi-Arid Climate

open access: yesAgriculture, 2022
Corn straw incorporation in soil has been regarded as an environment-friendly approach for straw utilization. However, straw incorporation has been a challenge under a cold and dry climate due to slow decomposition.

Tillage and straw mulching impacts on grain yield and water use efficiency of spring maize in Northern Huang–Huai–Hai Valley

open access: yesCrop Journal, 2015
A two-year field experiment (2012–2013) was conducted to investigate the effects of two tillage methods and five maize straw mulching patterns on the yield, water consumption, and water use efficiency (WUE) of spring maize (Zea mays L.) in the northern ...

Interaction effect of wheat straw incorporation and nitrogen levels on grain and straw yield of wheat

open access: yesADVANCE RESEARCH JOURNAL OF CROP IMPROVEMENT, 2016
ABSTRACT : A field experiment was conducted for two consecutive years on same site at AAU, Anand, during the year 2004-05 and 2005-06, to evaluate the effect of crop residue management practices and nitrogen on yield of wheat. Eighteen treatment combinations involving six residue management practices and three levels of nitrogen were tested ...

Enhancing Sustainable Agriculture in China: A Meta-Analysis of the Impact of Straw and Manure on Crop Yield and Soil Fertility

open access: yesAgriculture
As the main organic materials, straw and manure play a critical role in soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration and crop yield in China. This meta-analysis evaluated the impact of straw and manure amendments, both individually and combined, on crop yield,

Straw return enhances grain yield and quality of three main crops: evidence from a meta-analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Straw return is regarded as a widely used field management strategy for improving soil health, but its comprehensive effect on crop grain yield and quality remains elusive. Herein, a meta-analysis containing 1822 pairs of observations from 78 studies was
