Journal of the A.I.E.E., 1929
The author of this correspondence wishes to add some further verification to conclusions of the above-named article by M.C. Holmes (A.I.E.E. Journal, March 1929, p. 224). The author states that he and a colleague have made several calorimeter tests on turbine generators and found that the load losses at the normal voltage, zero per cent power factor ...

Precision Calorimetry for Stray Load Loss Determination
2000The paper explains how the use of calorimetric techniques can lead to a dramatic increase in the accuracy of measurement of both total and stray load losses in induction motors. Analysis of the errors involved in determining stray load loss from total and component losses is. The need for a separate generated supply is explained.

Stray load losses of a 55,000-kva. generator
Electrical Engineering, 1932Calorimeter tests on a 55,000-kva. hydroelectric generator show that the difference between stray load losses measured under load conditions and those measured under short-circuit conditions is slight. The method used by the authors is said to be applicable in general to all large units where an enclosed system of ventilation is used.

A stray loss problem in transformer tanks
Electrical Engineering, 1954IN THE DESIGN of transformers, there are a great many problems regarding fields. Both dielectric and magnetic fields are involved and most of them are extremely difficult to solve mathematically. One problem involving the magnetic field is that of stray losses and heating of tanks.

The efficiency data provided by manufacturers are measured or calculated according to different national and international standards. These standards use different means to incorporate the stray load losses; thus the efficiency values obtained from different testing standards can differ by several percent. This leads to problems in competition and to a

Measurement of Stray Load Loss in Polyphase Induction Motors
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1932FOR LACK of a satisfactory method of measurement, no provision is made for stray load losses in the A.I.E.E. standard efficiency tests for induction motors. These losses may amount to from 2 to 5 per cent in squirrel cage motors from 1 to 5 hp. in size, decreasing gradually with increase in motor rating until they are less than 1 per cent for motors of

Stray losses in armature end iron of generators
Electrical Engineering, 1955IT was recognized early in the history of synchronous machines that generator operation at high-lagging, unity, and leading power factors resulted in extra losses and comparatively high temperatures in the structural parts at the ends of the armature core.

Transformer stray loss investigations on special models
2013A special laboratory model for investigation of stray losses in transformer tank has been constructed. Stray losses represent the majority of measured total losses of the model what assures high measurement accuracy and certainty. Model consists of an excitation winding, core and a plate that represents transformer tank.
