Hydrologic Trends in the Upper Nueces River Basin of Texas—Implications for Water Resource Management and Ecological Health

open access: yesHydrology, 2019
Reliable water sources are central to human and environmental health. In south Texas, USA, the Nueces River Basin (NRB) directly or indirectly plays that important role for many counties.

El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) controls on mean streamflow and streamflow variability in Central Chile

open access: yes, 2020
Understanding hydrological extremes is becoming increasingly important for future adaptation strategies to global warming. Hydrologic extremes affect food security, water resources, natural hazards, and play an important role in the context of erosional processes and landscape evolution.

Surface Energy Partitioning Biases in Major Reanalyses Revealed by Soil Moisture Drying Dynamics

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 13, 16 July 2026.
Abstract Identifying the flux partition regimes between soil moisture (SM) and evaporative fraction (EF, ratio of evapotranspiration to available energy) is important for understanding the hydrometeorological processes as well as the development of Land Surface Models (LSMs).

Hydrological process controls on streamflow variability in a glacierized headwater basin

open access: yes, 2022
This is the peer reviewed version of the following article: Aubry-Wake, C., Pradhananga, D., Pomeroy, J. W. (2022). Diagnosing Hydrological Process Controls in Streamflow Generation and Variability in a 1 Glacierized Alpine Headwater Basin.

Impacts of glacier retreat, greening, and a changing sediment supply on debris flows in contrasting monsoon‐dominated Himalayan climates

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 7, July 2026.
We modified the SedCas model to assess how glacier retreat, vegetation growth, and sediment availability and erosion timing affect debris flow activity in Langtang and Mustang, Nepal. Results reveal that landscape change reduces sediment supply and runoff response, making debris flows smaller and less seasonally concentrated under future conditions ...

Quantifying the impacts of climate and land use changes on the hydrological response of a monsoonal catchment

open access: yes, 2010
The effect of climate change and land use change on runoff generation and flooding has received great attention in many hydrological modelling studies.

Relationship between rainfall and streamflow in the La Plata Basin: Annual cycles, interdecadal and multidecadal variability

open access: yes, 2023
The aim of this study is to understand the interaction between rainfall and streamflow variability in the La Plata basin (LPB) along a wide range of timescales. The LPB is divided in six sub-basins associated to the main regional rivers (Paraguay, Paraná,

Modelling Climate Change Effects on Groundwater Recharge and Temperature for a Pre‐Alpine Lysimeter

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
Climate change is projected to increase winter groundwater recharge and extreme precipitation events in pre‐alpine regions. Groundwater temperatures will rise by up to 26%, primarily driven by air temperature. These trends pose challenges for future water availability and quality, requiring adaptive water resource management.

Sensitivity of Large‐Scale Hydrological Predictions to Precipitation Phase Partitioning Methods Under a Changing Climate

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
Future warming shifts precipitation from snow to rain across the Saskatchewan River Basin, reducing snow water equivalent and advancing snowmelt timing. Differences among precipitation phase‐partitioning methods propagate from snowpack accumulation to runoff magnitude and timing, producing earlier spring flows and higher peak discharge.

Coherent streamflow variability in Monsoon Asia over the past eight centuries---links to oceanic drivers

open access: yes, 2019
The Monsoon Asia region is home to ten of the world’s biggest rivers, supporting the lives of 1.7 billion people who rely on streamflow for water, energy, and food.
