Reconnaissance‐Scale Methods for the Identification of Groundwater Discharge to Streams

open access: yesGroundwater Monitoring &Remediation, EarlyView.
Abstract Identifying groundwater discharge locations is critical for understanding and monitoring groundwater contributions to streams in terms of water quantity and quality. Streams and rivers are under increasing strain from factors, including increased urbanization, agricultural land use, groundwater extraction, and climate change, which can alter ...

The compensating effect of glaciers: Characterizing the relation between interannual streamflow variability and glacier cover

open access: yes, 2019
Meltwater from glaciers is not only a stable source of water but also affects downstream streamflow dynamics. One of these dynamics is the interannual variability of streamflow.

Streamflow Response to Glacier Mass Loss Varies With Basin Precipitation Across Alaska

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Diminishing glaciers affect streamflow, and given the extent of glaciers in Alaska and adjacent Canada, continued glacier mass loss is likely to have profound effects on ecosystems sensitive to runoff.

Tree growth response and adaptation to climate change and climate extremes: From canopy to stem

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This review synthesizes the responses and adaptations of tree growth, including canopy phenology, intra‐annual wood formation dynamics, and annual stem growth, to climate change and climate extremes. It highlights key knowledge gaps for future research to support sustainable forest management and enhance forest carbon storage under ongoing climate ...

Effect of Rainfall and Temperature Variability on Streamflow in Nzoia River Basin, Kenya

open access: yes, 2022
Nzoia River Basin is one of the regions in Kenya that is highly vulnerable to climate change making its hydrological regimes highly sensitive to rainfall and temperature variability.

Elevation shapes alpine snow algal blooms and their influence on albedo reduction

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Graphical summary of elevational trends in Sanguina‐dominated snow algal blooms. Increasing elevation was associated with larger cells, lower Chla content per cell, higher astaxanthin ratios, lower snow water content, and reduced cell‐normalized albedo, whereas algal cell density showed no consistent elevational trend.

Preserving long term Variability in Simulation of Multisite Streamflow Extremes.

open access: yes, 2019
The prediction and simulation of streamflow extremes across a river basin has significant implications for water management strategies. In particular, the clustering and correlation of wet and dry extremes in space poses portfolio risks to agriculture ...

Impact of Indo-Pacific Climate Variability on High Streamflow Events in Mahanadi River Basin, India

open access: yes, 2020
The potential impact of climate variability on the hydrological regime in the Mahanadi river basin is of great importance for sustainable water resources management. The impact of climate variability on streamflow is analyzed in this study. The impact of
