Streams, Stream Transformers and Domain Representations
1998Abstract. We present a general theory for the computation of stream transformers of the form F: (R ? B) ? (T ? A), where time T and R, and data A and B, are discrete or continuous. We show how methods for representing topological algebras by algebraic domains can be applied to transformations of continuous streams. A stream transformer is continuous in

Stream Operators for Querying Data Streams
2005One of the most important uses of aggregate queries over data streams is sampling. Typically, aggregation is performed over sliding windows where queries return new results whenever the window contents change, a concept referred to as a continuous query.

Present NoSQL databases are passive entities, where users proactively access the databases. While NoSQL databases are scalable due to their horizontal scale-out designs, data items stored in potentially very large databases are difficult to retrieve in terms of access delay, programmability and usability. In this paper, we advocate supporting events in

stream(), Stream and Spliterator
2016By now, you have a first impression how you can use stream() and parallelStream(). We want to look behind the scenes and investigate these methods further.

A supply stream is a continuous version of a supply chain. It is like a series inventory system, but stock can be held at any point along a continuum, not just at discrete stages. We assume stationary parameters and aim to minimize the long-run average total cost. We show that a stationary continuous-stage echelon base-stock policy is optimal. That is,

The cell kinetic characteristic of all epithelia is the same. All are analogs of the crypt-villus unit of the gastrointestinal mucosa. Each unit is nourished by at least one determined uncommitted stem cell (DS). When the DS divides, one of its progeny replaces the parent and remains a DS, while the other starts streaming outward.

The sole effect of expression evaluation in a functional programming language is the production of a resultant value. This absence of side-effects greatly facilitates both the formal characterization and the concurrent execution of functional programs. Unfortunately, the absence of side-effects also conflicts with conventional means of achieving input ...

We discuss two types of acoustic streaming, namely the ``quartz wind'' and Rayleigh streaming. Both are associated with flows that are dominated by their fluctuating components, and owe their origin to the action of Reynolds stresses. In the former, these stresses arise within the main body of the fluid when an ultrasonic beam propagates into it; in ...
