High strength and high ductility achieved in a heterogeneous lamella-structured magnesium alloy

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters, 2023
By introducing heterogeneous lamella-structure, we obtained a superior strength-ductility synergy in Mg-alloy associated with excellent strain-hardening ability, i.e. yield strength of ∼251 MPa, tensile strength of ∼393 MPa and elongation of ∼23%.

Achieving High Strength-Ductility Synergy in Low-Alloyed Mg-Li-Er Extrusion Alloys via Tailoring Bimodal-Grained Structure. [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials (Basel)
Low-alloyed Mg–Li–Er alloys were developed in this study and a bimodal-grained structure was obtained by varying the trace Er content and extrusion temperature.

The synergy of boundary engineering and segregation strategy towards high strength and ductility Mg-3Gd alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Nanostructured materials prepared by severe plastic deformation processing were puzzled by the trade-off between strength and ductility. With the synergy of boundary engineering and segregation strategy, a nanostructured Mg-3Gd (wt.

Enhancement of strength-ductility synergy in ultrafine-grained Cu-Zn alloy prepared by ECAP and subsequent annealing

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
A homogeneously ultrafine-grained (UFG) Cu-38 Zn alloy with an average grain size of 0.64 μm is successfully fabricated by equal channel angular processing (ECAP), which exhibits a significantly enhanced strength-ductility synergy.

Fabrication of heterostructured Ti alloys with exceptional strength and ductility by direct laser deposition

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Most metallic structural materials possess an intrinsic inverse relationship between strength and ductility. Heterostructured materials are expected to address this issue.

Enhancing the strength-ductility trade-off in C0·1CrMnFeCoNi0.8 high-entropy alloy: A combined experimental and DFT study

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
As a rapidly emerging class of metallic materials, high-entropy alloys (HEAs) provide the opportunity to develop novel alloys with superior mechanical properties through tackling the long-standing challenges, such as strength-ductility trade-off dilemma.

Dislocation-twin-precipitate synergy imparts 2.3 GPa yield strength and 18.2% ductility in MPEA at 77 K

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters
Achieving an exceptional strength-ductility synergy is essential for cryogenic structural materials. However, ultrahigh-strength alloys frequently suffer from limited ductility, which restricts ductility.

2D/3D local strain analysis of layered metal composites with a strength-ductility synergy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A long-standing question is why layered structures can overcome the strength-ductility trade-off and achieve synergy in this relationship. In this paper, layered Ti/Al, Ti/Ti metal materials are taken as examples to investigate the influence of a ...

Superior strength-ductility CoCrNi medium-entropy alloy wire [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
High strength-ductility is the prerequisite requirement for the widely used steel wires in engineering applications. Traditional strengthening strategies on these wires are suffocated inevitably by strength-ductility trade-off dilemma.

Effect of Fiber Reinforcement on the Tensile Strength and Ductility of Fly Ash Based Composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
In India, the majority of power production (73%) is generated from thermal sources, with coal-based production contributing 90% of the total installed power capacity. This reliance on coal for power production results in significant amounts of fly ash, a
