Strength development in adolescents in physical education classes

open access: yesInternational Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Journal, 2019
Objective:The objective of this study was to gain muscle strength in all its variables in adolescents after a strength training program in physical education classes for a period of 12 weeks - a strength training program in physical education classes at a State School of Ponta Pora (Brazil) was applied.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Persistence in the Zero-Temperature Dynamics of the Diluted Ising Ferromagnet in Two Dimensions

open access: yes, 1999
The non-equilibrium dynamics of the strongly diluted random-bond Ising model in two-dimensions (2d) is investigated numerically. The persistence probability, P(t), of spins which do not flip by time t is found to decay to a non-zero, dilution-dependent,

Enzymatic and microbial routes to bioplastics: The green chemistry frontier of biopolymers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Microbial biosynthesis and engineered enzyme platforms are expanding the design space of polyhydroxyalkanoate bioplastics. By combining fermentation, PHA synthase engineering and cell‐free modular systems, tailored biodegradable polymers can be produced with tunable properties, supporting more sustainable materials and future circular bioeconomy ...

Influence of composite fibers on the properties of heavy concrete

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
The article presents the results of research an effect of glass-plastic fiber on the properties of heavy concrete. It determined that adding glass-plastic fibers in heavy concrete compositions in an amount of 0.5 to 2.5 % by volume leads to decreasing of

Advanced powder metallurgy aluminum alloys via rapid solidification technology, phase 2 [PDF]

open access: yes
Marko's rapid solidification technology was applied to processing high strength aluminum alloys. Four classes of alloys, namely, Al-Li based (class 1), 2124 type (class 2), high temperature Al-Fe-Mo (class 3), and PM X7091 type (class 4) alloy, were ...

Identifying gene expression signatures for risk stratification of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A novel signature integrating genome‐wide analysis with clinical factors predicts recurrence in stage II colorectal cancer and enables a new risk stratification to guide postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical risk stratification for postoperative recurrence in patients with pathological stage II (pStage II) colorectal cancer (CRC) is essential ...

Absoluteness via Resurrection

open access: yes, 2017
The resurrection axioms are forcing axioms introduced recently by Hamkins and Johnstone, developing on ideas of Chalons and Velickovi\'c. We introduce a stronger form of resurrection axioms (the \emph{iterated} resurrection axioms $\textrm{RA}_\alpha ...
