Genome of Streptococcus oralis Strain Uo5 [PDF]
ABSTRACT Streptococcus oralis , a commensal species of the human oral cavity, belongs to the Mitis group of streptococci, which includes one of the major human pathogens as well, S. pneumoniae . We report here the first complete genome sequence of this species. S. oralis

Antibody binding to Streptococcus mitis and Streptococcus oralis cell fractions [PDF]
To determine which cell fraction(s) of Streptococcus mitis biovar 1 serve as the best source of antigens recognized by salivary SIgA antibodies in infants.Whole cells of 38 reference and wild-type isolates of S. mitis, Streptococcus oralis, Streptococcus gordonii, Enterococcus casseliflavus, and Enterococcus faecalis were fractionated into cell walls ...

Streptococcus oralis meningitis in pregnancy. [PDF]
While pregnancy is a time of relative immunosuppression, infective endocarditis and bacterial meningitis remain rare. We present a case of a pregnant woman with Streptococcus oralis endocarditis and meningitis.

Streptococcus oralis Meningitis with Gingival Bleeding in a Patient: A Case Report and Review of the Literature. [PDF]
An 81-year-old man with a history of gingival bleeding presented with a fever, headache, and drowsiness. His mouth and full dentures were unsanitary. Laboratory tests revealed Streptococcus oralis meningitis caused by odontogenic bacteremia.

Electron Transport Chain Is Biochemically Linked to Pilus Assembly Required for Polymicrobial Interactions and Biofilm Formation in the Gram-Positive Actinobacterium Actinomyces oris. [PDF]
The Gram-positive actinobacteria Actinomyces spp. are key colonizers in the development of oral biofilms due to the inherent ability of Actinomyces to adhere to receptor polysaccharides on the surface of oral streptococci and host cells.

Defining antibody targets in Streptococcus oralis infection [PDF]
Immunoblotting of sera from 12 neutropenic patients with Streptococcus oralis septicemia and 18 patients with endocarditis due to viridans group streptococci revealed immunodominant S. oralis antigens at 85 and 180 kDa. The former cross-reacted with a mouse monoclonal antibody to hsp90.

Infection of Streptococcus oralis NCTC 11427 by pneumococcal phages [PDF]
We have found a group of pneumococcal bacteriophages (Cp-1, Cp-7) that can successfully infect and replicate in Streptococcus oralis, whereas Dp-1 was unable to infect this species. We have also developed conditions that allowed transfection of S. oralis using Dp-1 DNA.
