Definition of Streptozocin Toxicity for Primary Lymphoidal Tissues
Diabetes, 1986Hyperglycemia was induced in BALB/c mice with either streptozocin or alloxan to evaluate the effects of these drugs on primary lymphoidal tissues. Streptozocin but not alloxan 1) briefly inhibited in situ DNA synthesis in bone marrow and thymus, 2) elicited a transient selective depletion of circulating lymphocytes, and 3) elicited a transient ...

Preliminary model for streptozocin metabolism in mice
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1980A mathematical model for streptozocin metabolism in mice is presented. By using the available bioassay and chemical assay data for a 300-mg/kg ip injection and the principles of physiologically based pharmacokinetics, a membrane-limited transport model with first-order kinetics was found to simulate the data adequately (average error of less than 20%).

Nephrotoxicity of Streptozocin
Annals of Internal Medicine, 1982Excerpt To the editor: Streptozocin has known nephrotoxicity. Reported cases have documented development of hypophosphatemia as the earliest finding followed by glycosuria, proteinuria, and finally...

Hazards of Hepatic Artery Infusion of Streptozocin
Scottish Medical Journal, 1979Three patients with metastatic malignancy received streptozocin by hepatic artery infusion through a percutaneous transfemoral catheter. Two patients developed major arterial thrombosis, from which one died. The other suffered renal damage following displacement of the catheter tip. Possible avoidable risk factors are identified.

Treatment of Metastatic Pheochromocytoma With Streptozocin
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1983A 58-year-old man who had a malignant pheochromocytoma with hepatic metastasis was treated with 2 g/mo of intravenous streptozocin for 18 months. There was a reduction in his urinary excretion of dopamine (from 33,840 to 731 micrograms/24 hr), homovanillic acid (from 48 to 8 mg/24 hr), and vanillylmandelic acid (from 350 to 74 mg/24 hr). There also was

Vasopressin in Rats With Genetic and Streptozocin-Induced Diabetes
Diabetes, 1989Rats were administered streptozocin (STZ; 50 or 75 mg/kg i.v., tail vein) or vehicle. Approximately 2 wk later, venous and arterial catheters were implanted for subsequent (24 h later) vasopressin, electrolyte, and hemodynamic measurements. STZ-induced diabetic (STZ-D) rats demonstrated a dose-dependent increase in the plasma glucose concentration ...
