Nephrotoxicity of Streptozocin
Annals of Internal Medicine, 1982Excerpt To the editor: Streptozocin has known nephrotoxicity. Reported cases have documented development of hypophosphatemia as the earliest finding followed by glycosuria, proteinuria, and finally...

Preliminary model for streptozocin metabolism in mice
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1980A mathematical model for streptozocin metabolism in mice is presented. By using the available bioassay and chemical assay data for a 300-mg/kg ip injection and the principles of physiologically based pharmacokinetics, a membrane-limited transport model with first-order kinetics was found to simulate the data adequately (average error of less than 20%).

Protection of Curcumin against Streptozocin-Induced Pancreatic Cell Destruction in T2D Rats
Planta Medica, 2019As a kind of traditional Chinese medicine extract, curcumin has been proven to be effective in inhibiting inflammation and apoptosis in pancreatic islet β cells in the streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus rat model, although the underlying mechanism ...

To evaluate the treatment of advanced islet-cell carcinoma, we randomly assigned 84 patients to streptozocin alone or streptozocin plus fluorouracil. Each regimen was given in five-day courses. The most frequent toxic effects were nausea and vomiting, mild and reversible renal toxicity, and bone-marrow depression with the combination regimen.

Hazards of Hepatic Artery Infusion of Streptozocin
Scottish Medical Journal, 1979Three patients with metastatic malignancy received streptozocin by hepatic artery infusion through a percutaneous transfemoral catheter. Two patients developed major arterial thrombosis, from which one died. The other suffered renal damage following displacement of the catheter tip. Possible avoidable risk factors are identified.

Calcein Fluorophotometry in Streptozocin-Induced Diabetic Rats
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1994ABSTRACT Calcein was used in vitreous flu oro photometry (VF) to study the blood-retinal barrier (BRB) in rats with streptozocin-induced diabetes. Calcein was injected intravenously in 18 diabetic rats and sodium fluorescein (NaF) in 12 diabetic rats.

Indomethacin in Streptozocin-Induced Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus
American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 1987A 14-year-old female patient with metastatic carcinoid developed streptozocin-induced glomerular, proximal, and distal tubular dysfunction. The latter was in the form of nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, with urine volumes in excess of 11 L/24 h. The prostaglandin synthetase inhibitor, indomethacin, rapidly corrected the polyuria both initially and on ...

Vitreous Fluorophotometry in Rats With Streptozocin-Induced Diabetes
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1984Vitreous fluorophotometry (VF) has been used to study the blood-retinal barrier in rats with streptozocin-induced diabetes. Subsequent investigations have shown that many variables other than diabetes influence VF values. With the use of a commercially available fluorophotometer, we assessed VF measurements in diabetic rats while simultaneously ...
