Back stress strengthening and strain hardening in gradient structure

open access: yes, 2016
We report significant back stress strengthening and strain hardening in gradient structured (GS) interstitial-free (IF) steel. Back stress is long-range stress caused by the pileup of geometrically necessary dislocations (GNDs).

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

The Effect of Changing the Weights of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles and Weights of Sodium Chloride on Some Physical Properties of Carboxymethylcellulose Thin Films [PDF]

open access: yesKirkuk Journal of Science
The objective of this work is to improve certain physical properties of the polymer Carboxymethylcellulose (CMCHV). The samples were prepared by adding sodium chloride and Zinc oxide nanoparticles to CMCHV solutions at different weights (0.00, 0.75, 1.50,

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Experimental evaluation criteria for constitutive models of time dependent cyclic plasticity [PDF]

open access: yes
Notched members were tested at temperatures far above those recorded till now. Simulation of the notch root stress response was accomplished to establish notch stress-strain behavior. Cyclic stress-strain profiles across the net-section were recorded and

Unlocking the Power of Quercetin‐Encapsulated Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles: A Multifunctional Approach to Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) are investigated for bone regeneration given their remarkable structural and functional properties. MBGNs are functionalized with Mn and Cu and incorporated with quercetin, a natural flavonoid exhibiting antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

Deformation analysis before and after hoisting and reinforcement of large flue

open access: yesMetalurgija
In the process of carrying out the installation of large flue, because the thickness of the flue is thin, it is easy to deform when hoisting with wire rope, and too much deformation will affect the subsequent use of the flue, resulting in waste, so in ...
