A simple stress-dilatancy equation for sand [PDF]
The stress-dilatancy relation is of critical importance for constitutive modelling of sand. A new fractional-order stress-dilatancy equation is analytically developed in this study, based on stress-fractional operators. An apparent linear response of the stress-dilatancy behaviour of soil after sufficient shearing is obtained.

Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

On stress-dependent elastic moduli and wave speeds [PDF]
On the basis of the general nonlinear theory of a hyperelastic material with initial stress, initially without consideration of the origin of the initial stress, we determine explicit expressions for the stress-dependent tensor of incremental elastic moduli.

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Background Research has shown that perceived unfairness contributes to higher rates of sickness absence. While shorter, but more frequent periods of sickness absence might be a possibility for the individual to get relief from high strain, long-term ...

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition in Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma
Epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a physiologic process that allows morphological and genetic changes of carcinoma cells from an epithelial to a mesenchymal phenotype, which is the basis of the high metastatic potential of pancreatic cancer ...

Nonsingular stress and strain fields of dislocations and disclinations in first strain gradient elasticity [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to study the elastic stress and strain fields of dislocations and disclinations in the framework of Mindlin's gradient elasticity. We consider simple but rigorous versions of Mindlin's first gradient elasticity with one material length (gradient coefficient).

Accurate computation of surface stresses and forces with immersed boundary methods [PDF]
Many immersed boundary methods solve for surface stresses that impose the velocity boundary conditions on an immersed body. These surface stresses may contain spurious oscillations that make them ill-suited for representing the physical surface stresses on the body.
