Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Stress Analysis of a Concrete Pipeline in a Semi-Infinite Seabed under the Action of Elliptical Cosine Waves Based on the Seepage Equation

open access: yesBuildings
This study aims to investigate the mechanical response of a submarine concrete pipeline under wave action in shallow waters, taking into account factors such as the compressibility of pores and the permeability of the seabed.

Study of the primary factor in the fatigue strength of steel-aluminium brazing joint by partial machining of joint parts

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2018
Weld-joint has been atracting attention to assemble structures of dissimilar metals, particularly in automobile industry. However, the application of weld-joint to steel and aluminum plates is still limited due to uncertainty of the fatigue strength ...

Finite Element Simulation of a Steady-State Stress Distribution in a Four Stroke Compressed Natural Gas-Direct Injection Engine Cylinder Head [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The main aim of this work is to predict the design performance based on the stress/strain and thermal stress behaviour of cylinder head under various operating conditions.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Effects of Stress Evolution Process on the Thermal Stability of Thin Accretion Discs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The stress evolution process is taken into account in the linear stability analysis of standard thin accretion discs. We find that the growth rate of thermally unstable modes can decrease significantly owing to the stress delay, which may help to ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Application of Topology Optimization in Design of Stem Profile in Hip Implants Using Finite Element Method [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2018
Appropriate design of stem shape is an important factor in total hip replacement. It affects the attachment of the implant to the bone and the stability of the implant.
