The problem of the stressed state of an elastic cone weakened by cracks
Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 2000The author studies the problem on stressed state of the elastic cone weakened by cracks. The author employs the method of discontinuous solutions and reduces the problem to the system of one-dimensional integro-differential equations prescribed on the regions of conic surfaces where the cracks are located.

Design and Stress Analysis of No-Coning Brake Discs
Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 1972During braking, the thermal gradient set up over the brake disc from the disc periphery down the bell to the mounting flange causes the disc to undergo undesirable distortions, termed ‘coning’. By proper design of the bell, this coning can be minimized, but, in so doing, there is a risk of high stresses occurring in the bell. In this paper, a numerical

Earthquake Stresses in Spherical Domes and in Cones
Journal of the Structural Division, 1956Formulas for primary or membrane stresses in spherical domes and cones due to earthquake loading; earthquake forces are assumed to act in horizontal direction and in magnitude are equal to fraction of dead weight of structure itself; ordinary flexure formula may be used directly in determining meridional membrane stresses.

Axial stress in the working cones of a composite drawplate
Steel in Translation, 2011With specified deformation in double and single drawplates, the increments in axial stress and drawing power in the working cones of each drawplate segment are calculated by various formulas. Formulas for the total increment in axial stress in the working cones of the segments of a composite (multisection) drawplate are proposed.

Cone-plate instrument for stress relaxation measurements
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1980Abstract An instrument for the measurement of stress relaxation in shear is described. The force is detected by a sensitive piezoresistive pressure transducer. The requirement of constant strain can be fulfilled within less than 1%. Preset values of shear strain can be imposed on the sample within 0.1 sec.

Thermal Stress in Cone Elements
1963Abstract : A basic conical element subjected to axisymmetric linearly varying temperatures on the inner and outer surfaces is solved for internal stress and compatible edge loading and deformation. Uniqueness of the result is proven.

Vaginal cones: a conservative method of treating genuine stress incontinence
BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1988Summary. A set of weighted vaginal cones designed to exercise the pelvic floor muscles was used by a group of 39 premenopausal patients with genuine stress incontinence who were awaiting corrective surgery. The effectiveness of the exercises in reducing urinary loss was assessed with a standard urine pad test before and after 1 month of training.

Conservative therapy of female genuine stress incontinence with vaginal cones
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, 1995The objective was to analyse urodynamic data before and after conservative treatment with vaginal cones. The design was an open clinical study and was carried out at the Urogynaecology Unit of the University women's hospital. Eighteen women with genuine urinary stress incontinence were treated with vaginal cones for 6 weeks.
