A fully polymeric two‐dimensional array of Dielectric Elastomers enables self‐sensing, cooperative actuation, and large‐stroke operation in a DE‐based autonomous conveyor. Based only on voltage and current measurements at actuator level, the system detects the presence of a ball and subsequently drives it toward a target position.

STUDY ON TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION WITH STRESS CONSTRAINTS
Engineering Optimization, 1992Abstract The paper studies the relation between topology optimization and size optimization of truss structures. The goal of the optimization is to minimize the structural weight under stress constraints and side constraints on member cross sectional areas.

Topology optimization of continuum structures with local stress constraints
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1998Summary: We introduce an extension of current technologies for topology optimization of continuum structures which allows for treating local stress criteria. We first consider relevant stress criteria for porous composite materials, initially by studying the stress states of the so-called rank 2 layered materials.

Stress constraints and hydrofracturing stress data for the continental crust
pure and applied geophysics, 1986Faulting and seismicity in the upper continental crust require considerable differential stresses. Application of experimentally developed friction, fracture and flow laws shows that high differential stresses can only exist in the uppermost crust. Direct hydraulic fracturing measurements in deep boreholes seem to support this rock mechanics conclusion.

A SUPERCONVERGENT STRESS RECOVERY TECHNIQUE WITH EQUILIBRIUM CONSTRAINT
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1997A stress recovery technique is developed to extract more accurate nodal stress values from the raw stress values obtained directly from the finite element analysis. In the present method a stress field is assumed over a patch of elements, and a least-squares functional is formed using the discrete stress errors at the superconvergent stress points and ...
