Stress testing of task deadlines: A constraint programming approach
2013 IEEE 24th International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering (ISSRE), 2013Safety-critical Real Time Embedded Systems (RT-ESs) are usually subject to strict timing and performance requirements that must be satisfied for the system to be deemed safe. In this paper, we use effective search strategies whose goal is finding worst case scenarios with respect to deadline misses. Such scenarios can in turn be used to test the target

Rhythmic constraints on stress timing in English
Journal of Phonetics, 1998Abstract Rhythm in speech is interpreted as the hierarchical organization of temporally coordinated prosodic units. This is a departure from conventional phonetic approaches which have focused on isochrony. Speech cycling, a novel experimental vehicle for investigating rhythmic constraints, is introduced.

Thermo‐elastic topology optimization with stress and temperature constraints
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2021AbstractA thermo‐elastic topology optimization with stress and temperature constraints is proposed to attack the complex multiphysics problem in this paper. Based on the rational approximation of material properties (RAMP), the coupled equations of mechanic and temperature field are solved.

Crack Tunneling: Effect of Stress Constraint
Applied Mechanics, 2004Crack tunneling is a crack growth feature often seen in stable tearing crack growth tests on specimens made of ductile materials and containing through-thickness cracks with initially straight crack fronts. As a specimen is loaded monotonically, the mid-section of the crack front will advance first, which will be followed by crack growth along the rest

Constraints on stress-energy perturbations in general relativity
Physical Review D, 1985Conditions are found for the existence of integral constraints on stress-energy perturbations in general relativity. The integral constraints can be thought of as a general-relativistic generalization of the conservation of energy and momentum of matter perturbations in special relativity.

Generation scheduling with thermal stress constraints
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2003This paper describes a scheduling method for representing the thermal stress of turbine shafts as ramp rate constraints in the thermal commitment and dispatch of generating units. The paper uses Lagrangian relaxation for optimal generation scheduling.

Topology Optimization with Stress Constraints
2015This thesis contains contributions to the development of topology optimization techniques capable of handling stress constraints. The research that led to these contributions was motivated by the need for topology optimization techniques more suitable for industrial applications.

Seismological constraints on stress in the oceanic lithosphere
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Physical and Engineering Sciences, 1991Abstract Studies of earthquakes provide some of the basic constraints on the stress within the oceanic lithosphere. The focal mechanisms of earthquakes indicate the directions of the principal stress axes. These directions can be compared with the stresses predicted by plate driving-force models, given the caveat that they can be ...

ON THE REACTION STRESS IN BODIES WITH LINEAR INTERNAL CONSTRAINTS
Waves and Stability in Continuous Media, 2002The existence of a material internal constraint in a continuous body generally implies the existence of an indetermination in the reaction stress. One may think that it can be eliminated by the prescriptions of the external contact force and body force: .The precise value of the reaction stress depends on the external body forces and the boundary ...
