Subclinical cardiac alterations and cardiometabolic profile in adolescents with newly diagnosed polycystic ovary syndrome: A cross‐sectional comparative echocardiographic study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective While cardiometabolic comorbidities have been well established in adults with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), it remains unclear whether the early signs of cardiovascular morbidity emerge during adolescence. This study aimed to investigate whether metabolic and cardiovascular alterations begin in adolescents with PCOS.

Evaluation of a novel fetal echocardiography training programme in two tertiary care obstetric Centres

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Improving and maintaining high detection rates for major congenital heart disease (CHD) is a priority for successful prenatal anatomy screening programmes. The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the utility of on‐site multidimensional targeted training in fetal cardiac screening. Methods A prospective study evaluating a

S100A9 promotes pulmonary arterial hypertension by regulating mitochondria–endoplasmic reticulum interaction‐mediated inflammatory injury of endothelial cells

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Macrophage‐derived S100 calcium‐binding protein A9 (S100A9) promotes the pathological progression of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). S100A9 upregulates the interaction between signal‐transducing adaptor protein 2 and leucine‐rich repeat kinase 2, thereby regulating mitochondria–endoplasmic reticulum (ER) contact.

The Effects of Angiotensin Receptor Neprilysin Inhibitor on Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Doxorubicin‐Mediated Cardiomyopathy‐Associated Heart Failure Model in Rats

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT One of the most serious complications associated with the use of the chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin (DOX) is cardiomyopathy. Although cardioprotective drugs such as angiotensin receptor‐neprilysin inhibitors (ARNI) are used to prevent cardiomyopathy in DOX patients, no studies have reported the relationship between ARNI and endoplasmic ...

Left atrial function during exercise stress echocardiography as a sign of paroxysmal/persistent atrial fibrillation

open access: yes
Objective Atrial cardiomyopathy is closely associated with atrial fibrillation (AF), and some patients exhibit no dysfunction at rest but demonstrate evident changes in left atrial (LA) function and LA volume during exercise. This study aimed to identify

The diagnostic and prognostic value of tissue Doppler imaging during dobutamine stress echocardiography in end-stage renal disease

open access: yes, 2009
Objective: To determine whether a quantitative measurement of peak systolic velocity (PSV) during dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE) detects severe coronary artery disease (CAD) and predicts mortality in patients with end-stage renal disease ...

Extreme Heterophilic Antibody Interference in BNP Immunoassay: A Case Report and Systematic Investigation Protocol

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
A 53 year‐old male with type 2 diabetes presented extremely elevated BNP (> 4000 pg/mL) but normal NT‐proBNP and cardiac function. Systematic verification confirmed severe heterophilic antibody (HAMA) interference in the BNP chemiluminescence immunoassay.
