A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.

Effect of Stress on Field Dependence

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1976
60 subjects were tested in the rod-and-frame test under flicker conditions (stress). As compared to scores in a control situation (no flicker), the rod-and-frame scores were large under stress and increased monotonically during the session. Furthermore, both intra- and interindividual variability of rod-and-frame performance changed under stress ...

Field-induced stresses in field emitters

Surface Science, 1978
Abstract A numerical analysis is performed in order to determine the magnitude and disposition of field-induced stresses in an axisymmetric field emitter whose profile is taken as a calculated profile of a real tungsten emitter. The results are compared to previous analyses and new observations are made. Conclusions are drawn which reflect the effect

Abiotic stress, the field environment and stress combination

Trends in Plant Science, 2006
Farmers and breeders have long known that often it is the simultaneous occurrence of several abiotic stresses, rather than a particular stress condition, that is most lethal to crops. Surprisingly, the co-occurrence of different stresses is rarely addressed by molecular biologists that study plant acclimation.

Stress Fields in Composite Laminates

International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1978
A new theory is proposed to define the complete stress field within an arbitrary composite laminate. The theory is based upon an extension of Reissner’s variational principle to laminated bodies. Weaknesses in previous laminate theories are discussed and it is demonstrated how these are overcome in the present formulation.

Confusion and Controversy in the Stress Field

Journal of Human Stress, 1975
An attempt is made to further clarify present areas of controversy in the stress field, in response to a two-part article by Dr. John W. Mason which concludes in this issue of the Journal of Human Stress. The author tries to elucidate each source of confusion enumerated by Dr. Mason.

A Historical View of the Stress Field

Journal of Human Stress, 1975
An analysis is presented of selected aspects of stress theory and research in biology and medicine, both before and after the introduction of Selye's stress formulations, which have been of major importance in the development and popularity of this research area.

The present-day stress field of Australia

Earth-Science Reviews, 2017
The unusual present-day crustal stress pattern of the Australian continent has been the subject of scientific debate for over 25 years. The orientation of maximum horizontal present-day stress (S-Hmax) in continental Australia is unlike all other major tectonic plates in that the stress pattern shows regional variability and it is not oriented sub ...

VISUALIZING DIRECTIONAL STRESSES IN A STRESS TENSOR FIELD

2006
Tensors represent a natural means for describing many physical phenomena. Therefore, there is a need to develop methods that will assist in analyzing such data. Despite some calls for generality, we concentrate on quite a specific application because general methods designed for visualizing information contained in second order tensor fields may fail ...
