Nanoconfinement‐Induced Second‐Harmonic Circular Dichroism via Chirality–Ferroelectric Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoconfinement of a ferroelectric nematic liquid crystal within a chiral nanoporous sponge yields an enhanced second‐harmonic generation circular dichroism (|gSHG–CD| ≈ 1.1). Polarization‐resolved analysis suggests an additional magnetic‐dipole‐associated nonlinear contribution under nanoconfinement, highlighting chirality–ferroelectric coupling as a ...

Far-Field Stress Determination Using Seismic Stress Inversion

open access: yes, 2018
The objective of this research is to develop tools and methodologies to achieve more reliable information about the stress field in deep mines, especially around mining excavations by using the method of seismic stress inversion.

Pressure‐Assisted Dimensional Transformation of 2D Hydrogenated Borophene into 0D Boron Quantum Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrogenated borophene (HB) is transformed into distinct boron nanostructures through a solvent‐free thermal process. Under flowing nitrogen, hydrogen escape promotes reconstruction into B2O3 nanoplatelets, whereas hydrogen‐induced pressure under sealed conditions facilitates fragmentation into boron quantum dots.

Depth resolution in potential field inversion: theory and applications

open access: yes, 2013
One of the principal difficulties with the inversion of the potential field data is the inherent non-uniqueness. In fact, by Gauss' theorem we know that there are infinitely many equivalent source distributions that can produce a measured field (Blakely,

Preferential Interfacial Engineering of Hydrogels via Interdigitated Nanoparticle Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Robust surface functionalization of hydrogel surfaces is performed via interdigitated metal nanoparticle assembly, inducing strong affinity with the hydrogel matrix. The partially exposed nanoparticle domains act as interfacial nanobridges that mediate both chemical and physical bonding with diverse materials, including small molecules, fluorous ...

Study of stress field in seismogenic processes in Oklahoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The recently increased seismicity in Oklahoma provides a rich catalog that delineates unmapped fault system. In this project, I identify 88 clusters with 20 or more earthquakes using automatic nearest-neighbor approach.

Ray Trace Tomographic Velocity Analysis of Surface Seismic Reflection Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Recent development of two technologies allows application of a generalized formulation of travel time inversion to very large data sets, such as the surface reflection surveys collected for oil exploration.

Modal Analysis of Light Propagation, Polarization and Diffraction by Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The analysis of optical eigenmodes in chiral liquid crystal with perpendicular or tilted helical axis, and their correspondence with the external medium, leads to an intuitive understanding of the angle and wavelength dependency of transmissive and reflective diffraction.

Investigation of stress-strain behavior of calcareous sand sites using a novel integrated inversion analysis framework

open access: yes
The stress-strain behavior of soil is a fundamental indicator for understanding failure mechanisms and deformation patterns. In earthquake engineering and soil dynamics, it serves as a key basis for characterizing the dynamic properties of sand sites ...

An Integrated Oxygen‐Supplying Device and Predictive Multiphysics Model for Extended Ambient Transport of Insulin‐Producing Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cell therapies typically rely on cold‐chain logistics and cryopreservation, limiting access and compromising cell quality. Here, a dual‐chamber device separates an oxygen‐supplying chamber from a hyaluronic acid cargo chamber, sustaining oxygen delivery for over 70 h and enabling ambient‐temperature shipment.
