An Inverse Method for Reconstruction of the Residual Stress Field in Welded Plates

Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, 2010
Welding process is widely used in manufacturing of many important engineering components. For such structures, the most important problem is the development of residual stresses and distortion due to welding. Welding tensile residual stresses have a detrimental effect and play an important role in an industrial environment.

A short note on the inversion of tectonic stress fields

Tectonophysics, 1983
Abstract Works on global and regional stress fields are briefly reviewed. Questions encountered in computing tectonic stress fields are listed as: the earth model, driving forces, distinguishing criteria and residual stress. For the linear elastic case, a scheme making use of the superposition principle and the method of least squares is described in

Inversion Technique To Determine the In-Situ, Stress Field From Fracturing Data

Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1988
ABSTRACTTypically one assumes that the two horizontal in-situ stresses are equal in borehole stability studies. This simplification has been necessary due to lack of information. The new method presented here distinguishes between the in-situ stresses and estimates the magnitude and the direction of each of the two horizontal in-situ stresses.

Inversion of stress field evolution consisting of static and dynamic stresses by microseismic velocity tomography

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences, 2016
Abstract In order to reveal the stress precursors of the “3.15” rockburst disaster that occurred in the No. 1 working face of Junde coal mine, the combined stress field inversion including static and dynamic stresses was conducted by using P-wave velocity tomography, and the static high-stress concentration regions were further designated ...

Travel time inversion for the determination of stress fields in granular soil media

Inverse Problems in Engineering, 1999
Transmission photoelasticity is a well established procedure for solid bodies; to the authors' knowledge there is no corresponding technique for particulate media, especially granular soil media. This paper presents such a procedure using the crosshole seismic probing common to geophysical imaging.

On a Certain Inverse Problem of Coupled Thermal Stress Fields in a Thick Plate

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1988

Genetic Algorithm‐Finite Element Inversion of Stress Field of Brazil

Chinese Journal of Geophysics, 2000
AbstractBased on observed data on orientation of stresses in Brazil, a genetic algorithm‐finite element method (GA‐FEM) is applied to inverse the boundary displacement and nodal forces within the plate. The inversion confirms previous studies that plate boundary actions are main factors controlling the regional stress field, and spreading forces of ...

Pseudo-inverse method for the identification of non-homogeneous stress field in dynamic experiments

DYMAT 2009 - 9th International Conferences on the Mechanical and Physical Behaviour of Materials under Dynamic Loading, 2009
The conventional recovery of the mean stress field in dynamic tests is not valid in case of non equilibrated-dynamic tests. Inverse techniques are well adapted to resolve this problem. Conversely, they need the resolution of a complex numerical problem.

Stress field and thrust kinematics: a model for the tectonic inversion of the cameros massif (Spain)

Journal of Structural Geology, 1992
Abstract Alpine tectonics of the Cameros Thrust has been studied from several points of view: geometry (surface and sub-surface structure, three-dimensional outline of the thrust), kinematics (transport direction) and dynamics (characterization of the regional compressional stress field).
