Alternative splicing of ZmHsf23 modulates maize heat tolerance by regulating sHSPs and TIL1 expression

open access: yesCrop Journal
Heat stress is a major threat to maize (Zea mays L.) production worldwide. Heat shock transcription factors (HSFs) play vital roles in plant responses to heat stress.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Virulence and genetic characterization of Puccinia striiformis f.sp. tritici populations on different wheat cultivars

open access: yesPhytopathology Research
Wheat stripe rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is a major global threat to wheat production, severely affecting yield stability.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Epitranscriptomic RNA editing resolves Mus81 DNA repair tradeoffs in heat tolerance and meiosis

open access: yesNature Communications
Maintaining genome integrity is essential, yet how DNA repair is balanced across life stages remains poorly understood. Here we uncover an epitranscriptomic mechanism in the fungal pathogen Fusarium graminearum that alleviates a trade-off between heat ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Mechanism of tea infusion as a novel control agent against Fusarium graminearum

open access: yesPhytopathology Research
Fusarium head blight (FHB), caused by Fusarium graminearum, severely reduces wheat yield and grain quality due to deoxynivalenol (DON) contamination. To develop sustainable alternatives to synthetic fungicides, we evaluated the antifungal activity of tea

Functional Insights into the RCC1 Gene Family and UVR8-Mediated Regulation of Anthocyanin Biosynthesis in Grapevine

open access: yesPlants
Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) is a key fruit crop affected by abiotic stresses such as salinity, drought, and temperature extremes. The Regulator of Chromosome Condensation 1 (RCC1) family, involved in regulating Ran GTPase activation, nucleocytoplasmic ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

The Mitochondrial Protein RESISTANCE to APHIDS 9 Interacts with S40 to Resist Aphid Infestation by Modulating Reactive Oxygen Species Homeostasis in Maize (Zea mays)

open access: yesAdvanced Science
As the corn aphid (Rhopalosiphum maidis) poses a major threat to maize (Zea mays) growth, there is much interest in identifying aphid resistance genes. In this study, an aphid‐susceptible maize mutant from an ethyl methanesulfonate–mutagenized library is
