Physiology of Stress Resistance

1995
The terms stress and stress resistance are used in the same way for plants as for man and other animals. Stress (= State of tension) signifies the effects of a “load” on the organism, caused by the influences of external factors (stress factors) which lead to an impairment or reduction in metabolism or development.

STRESS RUPTURE RESISTANCE

1976
Principles underlying the design of metallic systems for stress rupture resistance are outlined by considering the specific case studies of cobalt- and nickel-base superalloys. Ways in which superalloys can be designed for high stress rupture resistance are discussed.

Antimicrobial and Stress Resistance

2014
This chapter highlights the current literature vis-a-vis periplasmic mechanisms of antimicrobial and stress resistance and periplasmic constituents of signaling pathways that influence expression of resistance (periplasmic and other) determinants. An unrelated periplasmic heavy metal (Zn, Cu, Co, Ni)-binding protein, CzcE, is also encoded by the czc ...
