Mechanism transition and strong temperature dependence of dislocation nucleation from grain boundaries: An accelerated molecular dynamics study [PDF]
Accelerated molecular dynamics reveals a mechanism transition and strong temperature dependence of dislocation nucleation from grain boundaries (GBs) in Cu. At stress levels up to similar to 90% of the ideal dislocationnucleation stress, atomic shuffling

The dependence of planetary tectonics on mantle thermal state: applications to early Earth evolution
For plate tectonics to operate on a planet, mantle convective forces must be capable of forming weak, localized shear zones in the lithosphere that act as plate boundaries.

Analyses of Stress-State-Dependent Ductile Damage and Fracture Behavior of Zirconium
In this study, the fracture behavior of zirconium was investigated by a hybrid experimental and numerical simulation method. Uniaxial tensile tests were conducted on samples of various geometries, thereby covering a wide range of stress states at fracture characterized by stress triaxiality between 0.05 and 0.96 and Lode angle parameter between 0.01 ...

CHANGES OF THE NATURAL ELECTRICAL POTENTIAL OF STEEL IN THE STRESS-STRAIN STATE
The experimental investigations of steel samples under the influence of the bending load were conducted. It is demonstrated that in the event of the steel stress-strain state occurrence, its natural electric potential changes.

Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

The Account of Spatial Inhomogeneity of the Temperature in the Synergetic Model of Boundary Friction [PDF]
The work presents the further development of the synergetic model describing the state of the ultrathin lubricant film clamped between two atomically smooth solid surfaces operating in the boundary friction mode.

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
