Three sets of strength data were selected, including hydrostatic pressure independent within the brittle region (HPI‐B), hydrostatic pressure dependent within the brittle region (HPD‐B), and hydrostatic pressure dependent within the brittle–ductile region (HPD‐BD). For HPI type, the failure envelope within the deviatoric plane remains constant.

Triaxial compression tests under unloading confining pressure conditions were conducted to systematically analyze the permeability behavior of granite retrieved from the different classification surrounding rocks. Abstract The rock mass within mountain tunnels undergoes complex changes in permeability, strength, and deformation during tunneling ...

Effect of stress-triaxiality on void growth in dynamic fracture of metals: a molecular dynamics study [PDF]
The effect of stress-triaxiality on growth of a void in a three dimensional single-crystal face-centered-cubic (FCC) lattice has been studied. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations using an embedded-atom (EAM) potential for copper have been performed at ...

Critical expansion points: Mechanical signs of surrounding rock instability
This study proposes the Rock Bearing‐Expansion Model (RockBEM) with critical expansion points (CEPs) to quantify post‐peak damage stages in deep‐buried rock masses via plane strain compression test (PSCT). CEP hysteresis&interval ratios reveal bearing performance dynamics and failure severity, advancing mechanistic insights into deep underground rock ...

STUDY ON NECKING AND FRACTURE OF DUCTILE MATERIALS BASED ON STRESS TRIAXIALITY
Stress triaxiality is a key factor in controlling the fracture of materials. Based on new method of finite element aided testing( FAT),the full-range constitutive relationship of ductile materials could be obtained. Thus, the distribution and evolution of

The influence of Massive Black Hole Binaries on the Morphology of Merger Remnants [PDF]
Massive black hole (MBH) binaries, formed as a result of galaxy mergers, are expected to harden by dynamical friction and three-body stellar scatterings, until emission of gravitational waves (GWs) leads to their final coalescence.
