We are given a sequence of items that can be packed into \(m\) unit size bins. In the classical bin packing problem we fix the size of the bins and try to pack the items in the minimum number of such bins. In contrast, in the bin-stretching problem we fix the number of bins and try to pack the items while stretching the size of the bins as least as ...

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

The subject of this work is the development of a corrosion‐protective coating on steel sheets for form hardening. Rapid heating in an extreme high vacuum (XHV)‐adequate atmosphere is a useful method to prevent oxidation during alloying of 22MnB5 and aluminum to obtain a metallurgical bonding.

THE ROLE OF STRETCHING IN THE SPORTS’ TRAINING [PDF]
What does the word stretching mean? This is an English word and is translated întindere in Romanian. However, in the sports’ field it’s got a wider significance, that is a set of stretching exercises having the capacity to improve the body’s mobility ...

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.
