Unsteady flow past a stretching sheet
Mechanics Research Communications, 1996The purpose is to analyze the problem of unsteady flow past a wall which starts impulsively to stretch from rest using both the series expansions and numerical solution methods to predict fluid velocity and skin friction coefficient. It is shown that the series solution in powers of an unsteadiness parameter converges for appreciable large times.

Convective heat transfer at a stretching sheet
Acta Mechanica, 1993Analysis of convection flow and heat transfer of a viscous heat-generating fluid near an infinite vertical stretching surface is carried out. The effects of free convection and the presence of heat generation/absorption on the flow and heat transfer characteristics are considered.

The stretch-bend forming of sheet metal
Journal of Applied Metalworking, 1981Formability tests simulating stretch-bend conditions have been developed for simple angular and hemispherical contours. The tests were designed to determine the influence of material and geometrical variables on sheet metal formability. Data obtained from the tests have produced families of curves relating the punch radius (R) and sheet thickness (t ...

Springback in stringer sheet stretch forming
CIRP Annals, 2013Stringer sheets are sheet metal structures stiffened by bifurcations in the cross-section. In order to create spatially curved light-weight structures they may serve as preforms for sheet metal hydroforming. The stiffness of sheets altered by stringers is expected to affect the hydroforming results.

Bending and stretching of thin viscous sheets
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2001Thin viscous sheets occur frequently in situations ranging from polymer processing to global plate tectonics. Asympotic expansions in the sheet's dimensionless ‘slenderness’ ε [Lt ] 1 are used to derive two coupled equations that describe the deformation of a two-dimensional inertialess sheet with constant viscosity μ and variable thickness ...

Micropolar Flow Past a Stretching Sheet
2013This paper studies the flow of an incompressible, constant density micropolar fluid past a stretching sheet. The governing boundary layer equations of the flow are solved numerically using a globally convergent homotopy method in conjunction with a least change secant update quasi- Newton algorithm.
