Finite-distance singularities in the tearing of thin sheets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate the interaction between two cracks propagating in a thin sheet. Two different experimental geometries allow us to tear sheets by imposing an out-of-plane shear loading.

Thinning and stretching of the plasma sheet [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 2007
With Cluster observations in the magnetotail we study dynamics of plasma sheet thinning and stretching during 39 intervals associated with substorm growth phases. The cross‐tail current density and normal magnetic field generally scale as Bn ∼ TpNp1/2/J0, but with frequent transient variations.

Strain State in Metal Sheet Axisymmetric Stretching with Variable Initial Thickness: Numerical and Experimental Results

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
This work presents a finite element model to analyze the distribution of the strains due to an axisymmetric stretching of a metal sheet. The sheet is characterized by a variable initial thickness.

Tensile Behavior and Formability of Pre-Painted Steel Sheets

open access: yesMetals, 2019
The present work aims at studying the tensile behavior and formability of pre-painted steel sheets. To this purpose, uniaxial tensile and hemispherical punch tests were performed in order to analyze the deformation behavior of pre-painted sheets under ...

MHD Casson fluid flow with Navier's and second order slip due to a perforated stretching or shrinking sheet.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
The present work discusses the laminar boundary layer flow of an electrically conducting Casson fluid due to a horizontal perforated sheet undergoing linear shrinking/stretching with mass transpiration.

The Magnetohydrodynamic Boundary Layer Flow of a Nanofluid past a Stretching/Shrinking Sheet with Slip Boundary Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
The magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow of a nanofluid past a stretching/shrinking sheet with velocity, thermal, and solutal slip boundary conditions is studied.

Boundary Layer Flow and Heat Transfer for a Third Grade Fluid over a Nonlinear Radially Stretching Sheet

open access: yesWalailak Journal of Science and Technology, 2015
The steady axisymmetric flow and heat transfer of a thermodynamically compatible third grade fluid over an isothermal radially stretching sheet is investigated. A nonlinear stretching sheet is considered.

Numerical solutions of Wang's stretching/shrinking sheet problem for nanofluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The steady stagnation-point flow of a viscous and incompressible fluid over a continuously stretching or shrinking sheet in its own plane in a water-based copper (Cu) nanofluid is studied theoretically.

MHD flow and nonlinear radiative heat transfer of Sisko nanofluid over a nonlinear stretching sheet

open access: yesInformatics in Medicine Unlocked, 2017
The problem of heat and mass transfer of Siskonanofluid flow over a nonlinear stretching sheet under the influence of nonlinear thermal radiation and chemical reaction is considered.
