Development of Mg alloy sheets via strip casting
AZ31 and experimental ZMA611 alloys were strip cast into 2 mm thick strips. The as-cast AZ31 alloy strip consists of columnar dendrites. On the other hand, as-cast ZMA611 alloy strip shows equiaxed dendritic structure through the thickness of strip ...

Oxygen‐releasing hydrogels are widely used to support cell survival in 3D cultures and to promote wound healing. However, incorporating catalase to convert H2O2 into O2 often generates additional oxygen bubbles, leading to material instability which rarely addressed.

Twin-roll strip casting of iron-base amorphous alloys
In this study, three Fe-base amorphous alloys with quite different critical cooling rates were subjected to twin-roll strip casting to see the possibility of fabricating amorphous sheet by the sameprocess. Continuous cooling transformation (CCT) diagrams

Stacked nanoflake assembly (SNA) membranes can oscillate autonomously, offering opportunities for soft actuation and energy harvesting. This work uncovers the physical mechanism behind the sustained oscillation of SNA membranes in gradient humidity and identifies three governing dimensionless parameters, enabling rational design for optimizing SNA ...

Finite Element Modeling of Casting Roll during Twin-Roll Strip Casting
In twin-roll thin strip casting, the temperature distribution of casting roll affects the roll thermal stress, and influences the thermal deformation, the generation of roll surface cracks, the strip shape, and the service life of casting roll.

Superplasticity of strip cast aluminum alloys.
Eutectic Al-12%Si, Al-13%Mg2Si and Al-6%Ni alloys, Al-Mg-Mn-Cr, Al-Mn and Al-Mg-Si-Mn-Cr alloys were directly rolled from the liquid state between rotating twin chill rolls into plates 6mm in thickness and were cold rolled into sheets about 1mm in thickness. Bulge forming superplasticity tests were carried out.

Inspired by the octopus and the golden wheel spider, soft robots with liquid crystal elastomer arc fibers as appendages are fabricated to transcend surface constraints through an elevated center of mass and minimal contact footprints. By leveraging curvature‐encoded deformation‐recovery cycles, these robots exhibit contractile, torsional, and flexural ...

Mathematics simulation and experiments of continuous casting with strip feeding in mold
Steel strip feeding technology can reduce the degree of superheat of the molten steel, change the solidification order of the molten steel; raise the equiaxed crystal rate of the slab and improve the continuous casting quality.

This project developed a smart bandage‐like patch (a microneedle array) for repairing diabetic bone damage. It intelligently senses signals from infection and inflammation, then releases its medicines in a specific, timed sequence: first an antibacterial agent, then an anti‐inflammatory agent, and finally growth factors.
