Analytic theory of subcoulomb stripping

Nuclear Physics A, 1966
Abstract It is suggested that an expansion of a general stripping amplitude into a pure Coulomb wave part plus Legendre-polynomial corrections may be the simplest and most efficient way to extract useful information, that is, L values and reduced widths, from stripping cross sections.

A contact problem of the theory of consolidation for a strip

Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1999
The paper addresses a plane mixed boundary value problem of linear theory of the inertia-less two-phase consolidation [see \textit{M. A.~Biot}, J. Appl. Phys. 12, No.~2, 155--165 (1941)]. It is assumed that the strip resting on the smooth non-strained impermeable basement is subjected to the pressure of a semi-infinite permeable punch.

Comic strips and theories of communication

Word & Image, 1989
Abstract Figure 1 is taken from the B.C. series by Johnny Hart. Clearly the source of the joke is the graphological arbitrariness of the English language, which is further complicated by substituting the numeral 4 for the grapheme ‘four’. The joke can hardly have been communicated as effectively as this in any other way than by making use of the mixed ...

Semi infinite Orthotropic Cantilevered Strips and the Foundations of Plate Theories

Studies in Applied Mathematics, 1990
Elastostatic problems of semiinfinite orthotropic cantilevered strips with traction‐free edges and loading at infinity are reduced to the solution of a single scalar Fredholm integral equation of the first kind with a generalized Cauchy kernel.

On the edge mode in the theory of TM scattering by a strip or strip grating

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1980
Consider a plane wave incident on a perfectly conducting strip (or strip grating), and let the incident electric vector be parallel with the edges of the strip. If the edge mode is included among the basis functions, it is found this greatly improves the convergence of the moment-method solution.

A Forward-Speed Body-Exact Strip Theory

Volume 11: Prof. Robert F. Beck Honoring Symposium on Marine Hydrodynamics, 2015
This paper develops an extension to the body-exact strip theory of Bandyk, Beck, and Zhang [1–8], focused on improved prediction of forward-speed effects. One of the known limitations of standard strip theory is the treatment of forward speed terms. The free surface boundary conditions completely neglect the forward speed, which is usually justified by

ON THEORY OF DEUTERON STRIPPING REACTION

1976
Publisher Summary This chapter describes the theory of deuteron stripping reaction. Distorted wave Bom approximation theory with a skillful choice of optical potential parameters has provided good fits to deuteron scattering and deuteron stripping data.

Recent developments in the theory of stripping to unbound states

Nuclear Physics A, 1973
Abstract A comparative analysis is carried out of different approaches to the calculation of DWBA cross sections for stripping to unbound states including single-particle resonances, compound resonances and the smooth background. A relationship is derived between unbound stripping and scattering cross sections on the same target.
