Strip Tillage in California's Central Valley [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Author(s): Mitchell, Jeff; Shrestha, Anil; Campbell-Mathews, Marsha; Giacomazzi, Dino; Goyal, Sham; Bryant, Dennis; Hererra, Israel | Abstract: Strip-tillage, a form of conservation tillage, limits soil disruption to a narrow strip down each planting line, thus helping maintain soil structure and minimize dust.

No-tillage, Strip Tillage, Chisel Plow Tillage Trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Materials and Methods This trial was conducted in 2011 with the strip-tillage and chisel plow tillage being applied in the falls of 2010 and 2011. In both the strip-tillage and chisel plow treatments, 200 lb N/acre was applied as anhydrous ammonia at the same time as tillage.

Strip Tillage in Field Peppers

open access: yes, 1984
A strip tillage system was compared to conventional tillage in field peppers grown on a light, sandy soil. Monitoring showed that there is a potential for a 34% reduction in fuel use for strip tillage vs. conventional tillage. Yields from the strip till were 5% higher than the conventional.

An investigation of tillage systems and implement design for water conservation in semi arid conditions in Botswana

open access: yes, 2006
Botswana, as a semi arid country, is faced with serious shortage of moisture for crop production. Its challenging climatic condition makes the little moisture received from summer rainfall insufficient.

Revolutionising Agricultural Sustainability: New 'Furrow Tillage' can Mitigate Short-Term Soil-to-Atmosphere CO2 Flux and Promote Soil-Plant-Microbe Health. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
Furrow tillage resolves the conventional‐vs.‐no‐tillage trade‐off by simultaneously cutting CO2 efflux to 2.0–3.0 g C m−2 d−1 and unlocking high nutrient availability for the rice rhizosphere. This scalable agronomic solution strengthens soil health, enhances plant physiology, reshapes microbial metabolism, and shifts paddy systems toward a net ...

The impact of tillage practices on daytime CO2 fluxes, evapotranspiration (ET), and water-use efficiency in peanut

open access: yesFrontiers in Agronomy, 2023
Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) growers use different tillage systems in the Southeastern United States, the impact of which needs to be assessed with regard to evapotranspiration (ET), carbon uptake, and water-use efficiency (WUE).

Young children's perspectives of time: New directions for co‐constructing understandings of quality in ECEC

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Children's relationship with time in preschools is an under‐researched area. Young children rarely know how to measure time using a clock, but their experiences of time may contribute to understanding children's well‐being and debates about quality in preschools.

AGREGATE FOR STRIP TILLAGE OF SLOPE SOILS

open access: yesBULLETIN OF HIGH TECHNOLOGY, 2022
A combined plowing unit with energy-saving universal working parts has been proposed for mountain farming, in particular for strip tillage of slope soil which will reduce topsoil dusting and overgrowth of inner layers, will ensure the water resistance of the loosened strip, will reduce soil erosion along which the removal of useful organic residues and

A Strip-tillage System for Snap Beans [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1996
Our previous research found that snap bean yields were reduced in cropping systems with cereal rye residues. Strip-tillage may overcome the yield reductions while providing the environmental advantages of high residue systems. An experiment was established at Champaign, Ill. `Wheeler' cereal rye was seeded in September at 110 kg·ha

Method of Tillage with the Factor Determining the Quality of Organic Matter

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
The aim of this paper has been to determine the importance of the strip-till method for the content of carbon and the quality of organic matter as compared with plough and ploughless tillage.
