Cell Membrane Vesicle Camouflaged Artificial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Artificial cells camouflaged with a cell membrane vesicle coating are able to assemble into synthetic aggregates that exhibit rudimentary communication capabilities. Additionally, when these artificial cells are equipped with antioxidant capabilities, they are able to protect the intracellular homeostasis in HepG2 cells present in semi‐synthetic ...

Measurement of vascular tone and stroke volume baroreflex gain.

open access: yesPsychophysiology, 2012
The arterial baroreflex system (BRS) consists of at least three closed-loop control systems: the heart rate (HR), vascular tone (VT), and stroke volume (SV) BRSs. Whereas HR-BRS gain is well studied, VT-BRS and SV-BRS gain are not.

Synthetic Strategy for mRNA Encapsulation and Gene Delivery with Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research utilizes the ZIF‐8 for the encapsulation and intracellular delivery of nucleic acids, specifically mRNA, for applications in gene delivery. Integrating PEI addresses the issue of mRNA leakage from ZIF‐8, resulting in the delivery and expression of green fluorescent protein (GFP) in vitro and firefly luciferase in vivo.

Highly Sensitive Cuffless Blood Pressure Monitoring with Selective Laser‐Sintered Liquid Metal Conductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A soft, compact, and cuffless system for continuous blood pressure monitoring using laser‐sintered liquid metal conductors is developed. The stretchability and sensitivity of the device enable real‐time, non‐invasive tracking of blood pressure, including recovery after exercise. This wearable device offers a practical solution for managing hypertension

Body Size Predicts Cardiac and Vascular Resistance Effects on Men's and Women's Blood Pressure

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2017
Key Points SummaryWe report how blood pressure, cardiac output and vascular resistance are related to height, weight, body surface area (BSA), and body mass index (BMI) in healthy young adults at supine rest and standing.Much inter-subject variability in

Intracranial pressure pulse waveform correlates with aqueductal cerebrospinal fluid stroke volume.

open access: yesJournal of applied physiology, 2012
This study identifies a novel relationship between cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) stroke volume through the cerebral aqueduct and the characteristic peaks of the intracranial pulse (ICP) waveform.

Characteristics of High‐Performance Low‐Volume Hospitals in Acute Stroke Care

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background High patient volumes are associated with better stroke management and outcomes. However, in sparsely populated regions, patients with stroke frequently rely on low‐volume hospitals for acute care.
