Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

Improvement of Left Ventricular Ejection Time Measurement in the Impedance Cardiography Combined with the Reflection Photoplethysmography

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Cardiac stroke volume (SV) is an essential hemodynamic indicator that can be used to assess whether the pump function of the heart is normal. Non-invasive SV measurement is currently performed using the impedance cardiography (ICG).

Aqueductal CSF stroke volume measurements may drive management of shunted idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus patients

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
CSF shunting with adjustable valve is the treatment of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus. The opening pressure valve setting is left to the neurosurgeon’s experience.

Can the ischemic penumbra be identified on noncontrast CT of acute stroke? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007

Background and Purpose: Early ischemic changes on noncontrast CT in acute stroke include both hypoattenuation and brain swelling, which may have different pathophysiological significance.

Methods:

Cerebral autoregulation in patients with acute lacunar infarction: a reliable predictor of outcome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To further investigate the association between dynamic cerebral autoregulation (dCA) and the outcomes in patients with acute lacunar infarction. Methods Patients were prospectively and consecutively enrolled at The First Hospital of Jilin University between 2016 and 2023. dCA was monitored at 1–3 and 7–10 days after the stroke.

The Value of E/e'/Stroke Volume Index in Patients Admitted with Acute Decompensation of Systolic Heart Failure

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2019
Background: Heart failure (HF) is a global pandemic and a serious health issue in elderly population. It is among the leading causes of mortality, which imposes immense economic burden and premature deaths. In the present study we evaluate the value of E

Mildly Increased Renin Expression in the Absence of Kidney Injury in the Murine Transverse Aortic Constriction Model

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2021
Cardiorenal syndrome type 2 is characterized by kidney failure as a consequence of heart failure that affects >50% of heart failure patients. Murine transverse aortic constriction (TAC) is a heart failure model, where pressure overload is induced on ...

Meta-Analysis of Transfer Learning for Segmentation of Brain Lesions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
A major challenge in stroke research and stroke recovery predictions is the determination of a stroke lesion's extent and its impact on relevant brain systems. Manual segmentation of stroke lesions from 3D magnetic resonance (MR) imaging volumes, the current gold standard, is not only very time-consuming, but its accuracy highly depends on the operator'

Finger extensor variability in TMS parameters among chronic stroke patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
BACKGROUND: This study determined the reliability of topographic motor cortical maps and MEP characteristics in the extensor digitorum communis (EDC) evoked by single-pulse TMS among patients with chronic stroke. METHODS: Each of ten patients was studied

Deep profiling of multiple ischemic lesions in a large, multi-center cohort : Frequency, spatial distribution, and associations to clinical characteristics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Background purposeA substantial number of patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) experience multiple acute lesions (MAL). We here aimed to scrutinize MAL in a large radiologically deep-phenotyped cohort.
