The CUSUM chart method as a tool for continuous monitoring of clinical outcomes using routinely collected data. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
BACKGROUND: The lack of robust systems for monitoring quality in healthcare has been highlighted. Statistical process control (SPC) methods, utilizing the increasingly available routinely collected electronic patient records, could be used in creating ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Total Controllability of the Second Order Semi-Linear Differential Equation with Infinite Delay and Non-Instantaneous Impulses

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications, 2018
In this manuscript, a stronger concept of exact controllability called Total Controllability has been introduced. Sufficient conditions have been established for the total controllability of the proposed problem.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Total Positivity: an application to positive linear operators and to their limiting semigroups

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory, 2007
Some shape-preserving properties of positive linear operators, involving higher order convexity and Lipschitz classes, are investigated from the point of view of weak Tchebycheff systems and total positivity in the sense of Karlin [8].

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Semilinear Poisson problems in Sobolev-Besov spaces on Lipschitz domains

open access: yes, 2002
Extending recent work for the linear Poisson problem for the Laplacian in the framework of Sobolev-Besov spaces on Lipschitz domains by Jerison and Kenig [16], Fabes, Mendez and Mitrea [9], and Mitrea and Taylor [30], here we take up the task of ...
